It looks like the OP is on their own! ^

I'm one for keeping bottles... but certainly in the UK the choice of brand of water seems to be per hotel. Most in the UK now seem to be using UK water in glass bottles. So not much food miles and glass is easy to recycle.

So have a word with the local GM and see what they say.

Another idea: instead of the wasteful bottles of shampoo and conditioner in each room, how about a communal dispenser, say in the mid-point of the hall corridor, with small paper cups, so that each guest could dispense what they need and take it back to their rooms?

This germaphobe says no, thank you!

Communal shampoo and conditioner will not work for two reasons. Most guests want their own bottles, and it would present an opportunity for children/teenagers to create a big mess. The hotel staff would have a nightmare cleaning up after that.

I appreciate the Euro hotels that have soap and shampoo dispensers in the tubs. That doesn't bother me at all.

But I wouldn't give up the bottled water for anything. Portability and the ability to stick it in a bucket of ice or a refrigerator is great.

OK then they'll have to monitor it in the lobby :p

I love my water bottles. Another yes to bottled water.

I wish I'd thought of that.

I am getting sick of green. I guess I'm a bad person.

What about community toilets? Think about the amount of water they could save!

Wasteful, wasteful Marriott.;)

They should just convert all the hotels to dorm like to stop the horrendous waste of one bathroom per hotel room.

PS Put me in the pro-water bottle camp. If you don't like it, don't use them!

Not a Marriott but I was at a hotel near Portland several years ago. They had a great rate very close to the office I was going to be in for 2 days. When I called they told me it was a "european style" hotel....I just said OK.

Not a big deal either way but I had not clue what it was until I checked in and didn't have a bathroom in my room!
