How long do stays/miles take to post?
 

On Feb 1 I checked out of the Marriott Provo, UT. The stay was 5 nights for a company sales training. I signed up for Marriott Rewards a few days before the stay and the front desk added my number to the reservation when I checked in. Since I rarely stay at Marriott properties I chose DL miles instead of points. How long will it take for the stay to show up in my account summary. How long past that will it take for the miles to show up in my DL account?

As a dedicated HHonors member I'm used to my stays/points showing up within 48 hours of checkout and my bonus miles showing up in my DL account within 5 days.

With Marriott, it can take up to 10 days for stays to post to your account. Most of my stays post within a week.

I do not remember how long it takes miles to post, but I think they should post when your stay posts. FWIW, Marriott does not shut down accounts which are not active, even though they reserve the right to do that. If you ever stay at a Marriott again, it is better to earn points and save up to convert them into miles. You get more miles that way.

In addition, several of the promos, like Megabonus, are only available to those that earn points and not miles. I missed out on one of those, so I know. Since then I have qualified for six of them, almost 200k extra points in my account.
