Lifetime points are missing from the profile section of the website and show as 0 in the Marriott mobile app. However, you may be able to use the work-around referenced in this blog post to see your current Lifetime Points.

You can still view your lifetime points online with the following steps:
  1. Go to www.marriott.com and login
  2. Go to https://www.marriott.com/rewards/rewards-program.mi
  3. Click "Nights"
See screenshot of what to click.

If you call Marriott they can also tell you your lifetime points balance.

http://www.marriott.com/marriott/rew...te-benefits.mi As of 20 May, this process does not work. There is no link called "Night Detail" on this page.

To check lifetime balances: (HT to txpenny)
1. Click "Night Detail".
2. Click "Learn More" (under the night total)
3. Click "Marriott Rewards Overview". At this point you're probably no longer logged in (because you've been thrown to an older version of the Marriott website), so log in again.
4. Click "Nights" under your current year's nights. -> The detail you're expecting showing LT nights and points will show up like before.

Lifetime Silver Elite:
250 qualified nights
1.2 million points

Lifetime Gold Elite
500 qualified nights
1.6 million points

Lifetime Platinum Elite
750 qualified nights
2.0 million points

To check your point and night balance, log into your account and click My Account > Account Overview > Nights.

"Elite Lifetime Status is determined by your total qualified nights stayed and points earned throughout the course of your membership – including your paid nights, Elite rollover nights, meeting nights and the nights and points earned on your Marriott Rewards Credit Card."

Points used by members to buyback their previously attained Elite level will be permanently deducted from their Lifetime point balance.

If an elite's point level drops below that required for the level attained, they will drop down to the next Lifetime level until points are accumulated to get them back to the next level.

Lifetime points in addition to nights now display on your Marriott Rewards account. When logged in, click on "Nights" (the blue link below the number representing your current year nights). You'll see the detail of what comprises your current year nights as well as your Lifetime Status nights.

Yes, I have always known that, but he greeted me with "Thank you for continuing to be a Platinum member." I laughed at that, and said that is exactly why I am calling, because I did not maintain anything during 2012, due to illness, but I will be traveling again in 2013, and want to check about my status going forward. He said you are Plat now. Then I asked him all of the rest, as reported by me above.

Earning period has always been January 1 through December 31 of the same year, and benefits period has always been March 1 through February 28/29 of the following year. Also, AFIK, they have generally sent out the new membership packages/cards around the last week of January, first week of February each year.

Congratulations to the newly minted lifetimers.
As has been pointed out by others, this isn't likely going to swell the ranks. Many of us who have qualified for PM next year will now have lifetime status as a back-up, and a few people who aren't already presently staying at Marriotts frequently will now, on the occasional stay, have lounge access. It's not likely going to be a stampede. After all, we all know that if someone had been staying frequently over the past couple of years, but didn't qualify for PM next year, Marriott was likely leaving them at Plat anyway. It's not like there are likely very many people who aren't present, active Marriott customers sitting in the wings with 2m LT points and 750 LT nights who are all of a sudden going to start staying at Marriott hotels night after night.

Which mean's USirritated's move from Platinum to Lifetime Platinum will happen a couple of months later - I don't think that's a big worry.

Considering that she told us months ago changes were coming, and that it would include only nights and points, and then posted weeks ago that she'd post the wording to get MI members' input to make sure it was clear, and that it's 14 days from when it's to go live, I'm pretty darn certain it's a done deal.

I'm over to SPG tomorrow night, stopping at 99x LT nights and starting the 100 needed for SPG LT. That's my level of confidence. YMMV

Nope, not at all, since I maintain my existing Plat for reservations and benefits through February 28, and I am likely to receive my new package and card by the first or second week of February. Thank you kindly for your concern, whether real or facetious! ^

I'm going from no LT status to LT Gold because of this, and I'll be LT Platinum after next year. However, as you suggest, my LT status will just be a backup and peace of mind - not something that will change my effective status. Had they not made the change, I still would be Platinum next year (earned the normal way), and for the years that follow. By the time my activity might drop off and the LT Platinum kicks in, I would have already earned it via the old thresholds. Not everyone is in the same boat, but those of us who were held back just by the years requirement (now waived) or enough points coupled with deficient nights are not likely to have our newfound LT backup place us at a higher level than we would have been anyway. At least not in the near-term.

As I understand it, twoner32 is concerned about having 1, 200,000 points when he makes 250 nights, so as to get lifetime Silver pretty soon. You focused implicitly on the longer-term goal of 1,600,000 points at 500 nights for lifetime Gold, although your post did the rough calculation with 1,500,000 points and noticed that he will be close to that when he gets to 500 nights, assuming that the current earning pattern and lifetime criteria continue.

Well, considering that he is Hyatt Diamond and Hilton Platinum, I kind of thought he might be shooting for a bit higher than Marriott Silver, but he did not actually explicitly say that much, unless I missed something.

You're asking me? I don't know, I'm not a HH person, the only reason I had HH Gold was because it was given to me by Hilton about 3-4 years ago because I had two separate 3 day stays with Hilton because I was forced to stay with them due to two professional conferences which were held at Hiltons.

I was just copying it from "About twoner32"

Tsk, tsk Trojan, shame, shame! (for not frequenting)

And also, dear Troj, old buddy, old pal, you do realize that the words to, too, and two have different meanings, yes? I KNOW you know better than that!

Are you referring to the rollover nights double-counting for both the year they were earned in and in the next year they are rolled over to in terms of lifetime night credits?
If so, under what circumstances do they still double-count? Two years ago I had 150 nights, 75 rolled over, and I stayed an additional 75 nights last year. All 75 of those rollover nights were dropped off from my account this year and they did not add to my lifetime total (but the rollover nights did double-count for lifetime status 2 years ago, but I thought that was a one-time exception sort of thing).
