Sorry to resurrect the old thread, but is it still possible to move your spouse's points into your account when booking an award?

Also how does this exactly work? Do you have to be short of points to start with? Or you just say I am booking an award I need xxxx points from my spouse's account?

Thanks!

AKAIK nothing has changed, so you should still be able to pull points from someone else's account (not just spouses, even though the official T&Cs states spouses).

You will need to call MR and tell them you want to pull points from your spouse's or someone elses account. They will fax you a form that you need to fill out and sign. You will need to get that form to the owner of the other account (either physically or faxing) and get them to sign it (and fill out their account info if you didn't.)

Once the form has been completely filled out and signed by both account owners, then fax it back into MR. I usually try to get the name of a specific CSR and put the fax to their attention and then call them after I have faxed the form. This will let them know to go looking for the fax and then you can get your award ordered.

If I get a Travel Package, and then decide I don't need the hotel e-cert, can I redeposit the e-cert and get marriott points back? I used to do this years ago but not sure if that is still allowed and how many points I'll get back?

Yes, you should still be able to do so. But the amount you receive for the hotel portion of a TP award isn't very much (given the value of the airline points.) And the amount you will receive for the hotel portion is dependent on the hotel category and the amount of airline miles awarded in the TP award. The more airline miles, the lower the amount Marriott will give you for returning the hotel e-cert.

In 2013, is the travel packages always the best use of MR points ?

not always..............if your "miles rich" or if planning on going to a place where 7-nights just isn't prudent then IMO, no, TPs are not the way to go............
