It is publicly available enough that I just had the Plat rez desk insert it into one of my reservations for January, cheerfully, but told me that it is not available for another one of my reservations for next week.[/FONT][/B]

1) I appreciate you sharing your view of the front line staff, it is very apreciated but would also ask that you share these same views along with specific examples with the management of the hotels where you believe the front line associates are below par - it is through comments such as yours that the hotels can improve their teams performance, I can assure you your comments will be welcomed by the general managers and their management teams.

2) I'm not sure what your point is here, if you know a code of course reservations will be glad to check availability, here are the rate rules attached to leisure links

XWZA (GENR) LEISURE LINKS
-For qualified Leisure Links account guests only
-Minimum 10 percent discount off of weekend rate
-Rate does not include tax
-See hotel cancellation policy for details
-Only available for stays Thursday through Sunday
-Must arrive on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday
-Thursday requires a Friday night stayover
-Sunday requires a Saturday night stayover
-I.D. is required upon check in

How about lounge access for plats if not on a club floor

yep its those same well trained front desk clerks

Yup, those are the ones Trojan! They are also the ones who do not know about Plats having a $500 per day check cashing benefit.

There are managers and general managers who are clearly interested and grateful to hear about such issues, and there are other managers and general managers who are clearly irritated by hearing about "little things" like that from Elites.

Socrates has it right on the XML code regardless of what the front desk clerks are doing. When I just did a dummy booking using XML, after the rate posted I clicked on Rate Rules. It clearly brings up the criteria Socrates listed.

As someone else mentioned earlier, LPR can be just about anything under the sun. Different properties use this code for a garden variety of promos, some clearly stated as requiring a special ID, and some clearly not requiring any special ID. It's a hotel by hotel situation.

And finally, even though I am not a Marriott apologist, I seldom take shots at Marriott in this forum; however, the comments about the desk clerks having no clue about Bonus Bucks, Premium pounds and just a whole host of other stuff are all too often accurate. I had a major row in Guatemala City over Bonus Bucks at checkout, had to refuse to leave, and finally call Customer Service in the USA to get things resolved before I left. All at 0630 (And yes, my position at the time was verified by Customer Service as being absolutely correct) It is frustrating as a Platinum Premier to know more than the staff at many hotels about Marriott policies. I, unfortunately, wind up doing much of my travel on weekends, and the readers of this forum can imagine what I run into on weekends. One simply wearies of the same old stuff at too many properties where you know more than the staff. Maybe it's the same at other chains, but I really don't care if it is, since I am staying at Marriotts and I do care what it's like here. I choose Marriott because it is the best fit for my travel needs, but I get tired of arguing for my benefits. As far as I am concerned, this forum should be required reading for all GMs and Asst. GMs at each property. Perhaps then they would get a better understanding of some of the junk we put up with, and they could use the knowledge gleaned herein to better train their people. I have mentioned this forum to many several GMs and asst. GMs and they have no clue what it is about.

And finally, Socrates, I want to reiterate that your input is really appreciated, because as we all know, some of the comments and criticism of Marriott can get a bit rough at times. But as was said above, it's always the same old stuff with the front desk people, especially, God forbid, when Marriott is running a new promo or something. In my own experience on this board, some of the complaints about Marriott have been a bit ridiculous, but far, far too many of them are right on.

That is correct and it does give you a 10% off the lowest weekend rate.

ID is required and enforced.

Okay, I'll bite, what is a "qualified Leisure Links account guest?"

You know, I've tried to figure this one out for a few years. I Googled the term Leisure Links Guest, and while I admittedly did not have time to peruse all of the 1,440,000 items found in 0.11 seconds, none of the ones I read had anything to do with Marriott. I know in the past (as opposed to now) when I used this code, it did not require ID. I also looked through the Marriott Website, and could not find any mention of this rate code. Some secret society maybe, just kidding. Sorry but I can't find anything. Maybe somebody else can find something. I can hear Marriott's answer now, "If you were entitled to it, you would be a part of it and know."

Sorry - if you were a member of this fenced group you would be made aware of it through the appropriate channels

Thank you I appreciate the kind words....I can tell you FT is becoming well known through all hotel companies - I know some that strongly encourage their GM's to read not only FT but all of the well known sites

Socrates- Thanks for the info on the code; I wasn't trying to start a s***storm, I just wanted to know if I was using a "legal" code.

Everyone else, chill out. $20 says you don't know every policy at your respective employers, the desk staffs are no different.

True, but the problem comes in when employees routinely do not know certain policies which are usual and customary. For example, whenever I use a second night coupon, invariably, I have to go to the front desk at check-out to get credit for being overcharged by one night. I would guess than 1 in 5 hotels correctly process the coupon.

However, I don't blame the desk clerks. I blame whoever was in charge of the training.

I am never disappointed that too few people complain about using rates to which they are not entitled.

In the past there have been a comments against using rates which one isn't entitled to....myself I just keep quiet - afterall when all is said and done you only have your personal code of ethics, once you give those up there's nothing left

My pleasure to assist - I might suggest you check with your travel department/hr team to see if you qualify for the rate
