I can't believe I am going to be the first to decent over these two reports, but I see one glaring problem:

She keeps saying "For the Next Guest". This simply isn't true! These were all 2 night stays. Regardless of what you tell the front desk, housekeeping gets a report saying those staying and checking out....

Also, Specifically with the Ritz, she rinsed the glassed and did not dry them (which according to my understanding, actually met health code).

While staying at a local property the other night, I watched and asked. I was told glasses are changed between guests (I saw it with my own eyes), and glasses are rinsed and set back in the correct area.

Obviously the glove, and the drying are terrible errors.

I just think that the whole premise that started the story was in error. I would have loved to see hidden camera between guests, then I might not be as desenting.

So am I alone, or did anyone see through the hype etc?
(And yes, I'll think twice before I pick up the glass)

I personally witnessed this practice at the Philadelpha Marriott

FWIW, was staying at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown (the one next to the convention center) in August with my family. Came back to the room to pick something up when the housekeeper was cleaning. There in the bathroom sink were the glasses we used the night before. I stopped by the CVS and picked up plactic cups and now will not use the glassware at the hotels as a result.

RIP...

See check that out socrates!

This happens nationwide I would bet on it! Might not happen at every single property but it surely isn't isolated to Atlanta hotels.

To say that shows your replies are extremely biased.

Now that we've finally killed your statement that Marriott doesn't condone this so it doesn't happen at Marriott properties can't you just agree that it's a problem with the industry as a whole?

Is the issue whether Marriott condones it or rather, what proactive steps are being taken, if any, by them (and other chains) to address the situation?

Based on what's been said, GSS and other guest surveys are most likely are not sufficient; more emphasis (and disciplinary action) is needed.

This link to an AOL Travel Video (generic - hotel not identified) reiterates the specific issue - bathroom glassware, as part of a general discussion of the issue.

1) I'm not sure why you are venting your anger towards me (perhaps I'm reading your post wrong but it sure seems this way to me)

2) Perhaps I've missed it but I haven't seen anything showing proof that this action was condoned by anyone

3) I believe my background is common knowledge, infact I feel I've gone above and beyond in making this known in the issue of full disclosure

4) While my posts have been edited and sensored they have only been done so by myself to keep confidential information confidental - I believe they have always been fair to both sides (MI & the guests), I am truly sorry you feel otherwise but again I do have confidential information - not all of which I wish to make public

I honestly haven't been paying much attention to this specific topic (other than in this thread) so I'm speaking from my point of view but I'm confident GSS isn't (wasn't) the only way of ensuring the glasses were clean but I'm also sure additional steps have been put into place to ensure this incident (and others like it) will not be repeated, clearly the steps which were in place before were not always enough
