Chase Problem - Not Churning (Sort Of)
 
Back over a year ago when the Premier card came out, I cancelled the regular VISA and opened the Premier. Now Over a year later, I decided to rejoin the other VISA (not necessarily for points, long corporate policy issue). I got the 20k points, but not the CAT 1-4 Certificate. For the past 4 months I have called trying to find out where my e-certificate is for this account, and finally was mailed a letter stating that because I have previously had a Marriott VISA account, I was not entitled to the certificate.

While I am aware of the terms and conditions, I am surprised to be having this problem, when people churn these accounts on a regular basis. Anyone else experience this, or have have suggestions?

the Pts probably comes from Chase and the free night from MR. Be Happy that You were lucky that Chase still gave you the Pts.

Recently I applied for the Citi Hilton card they sent me 2 of them. Its suppose to come with 15k. so I charged $10 on the 1st card, waited 1 month till the statement closed and activated the 2nd card. (I was sent 2 different card #s completely).

Well Citi sent in for my 2nd card to give me the pts for the $13 charge along with the 15k. I didnt get the 2nd 15k although it was on my statement, I called up and it was resubmitted, still nothing, I DROPPED it. It was worth the chance. If you read the T&Cs Im sure it says its 1 time per person, so once you get it 1 time that is suppose to be it.

If i was you Id drop lest they take away the pts

My wife and I also rejoined after having received/used the free nights certificates about a year or so earlier. We got the points bonus but no free night certificates. When I called they let me know we would not receive the free nights certificates because we had received them when we were members in the past .... one bonus per account ... unfortunately computers have long memories ....

Fair enough .... although disappointed to have not received the free nights, we are happy to have received the points bonus (which according to the "rules" they could refuse or even remove).
