Cutting it fine to keep Platinum

With current plans I should have my 75th night on 30 Dec 06. It may happen a bit sooner, but not much! :)

Regards

John

Beats what my brother-in-laws wanted last year "...just give me 5 nights so I can requalify for Platinum." Afterward he decided he just do it on his own, and like you made it in late December.

Doesn't the 12 month period end in January? I believe it does so you would have a little buffer.

Will Marriott allow you to re-qualify based off points? Or is it nights only????

If you are already platinum, then what I have found in the past is that Marriott will renew your status if you get fairly close. In the past few years I have ended the years at 71, and 69 nights and have gotten my status renewed. This year I'm at 72 and am not planning any more stays. I am trying to renew my status with SPG for now.

I recall the renewal letter this year stating something to the effect of: In the past we've been generous if you've been close, but this year we are going to require the full nights for status renewal. Did anyone else read this into their renewal info. I didn't keep the letter, but am making sure to stay my 75 proper nights this year.

I assume you guys have the Marriott premier credit card. Otherwise, the card will give you 15 nights each years towards your elite status.

I am UK resident so I cannot get the card :-(
