Do Marriott Timeshares Upgrade Plats?

I need two more nights by May 15th to qualify for the Marriott bonus points. Just booked two nights at Marriott's Grande Vista, A Marriott Vacation Club Resort,

Got what I think is a good rate but was wondering if the vacation resorts offer upgrade for Platinum members like the other Marriot properties. (I have never stayed in one of their time shares before.)

Thanks for all who respond!! Have a great day.

Marriott Vacation Club facilities are specifically excluded in the room upgrade benefit. So it would be very unlikely that you would be upgraded.

I have no specific info on MVC, but when suites were specifically excluded from the plat/gold upgrade benefit at hotels, it seemed to have little impact on whether or not plats/golds actually received a suite upgrade. In other words, suite upgrades seem to be provided as often after the exclusion as they were before.

They are excluded by the rules but if you were visiting at a time they had a bigger or better open suite I guess it would be possible but not likely. It can't hurt to ask.

FYI, here is the relevant text from the Marriott website on room upgrades:

"When you check in, we'll upgrade your room whenever we can at no additional charge. Suites not included. Not available at Marriott Vacation Club International or Horizons by Marriott Vacation Club."

Though I do agree with Michigan Czar, it can't hurt to ask. Just don't expect an upgrade. The thing to remember here is that the vacation club rooms are not really owned by Marriott. My guess is your chances would be based on how sold out the facility is (i.e. does Marriott still control a large block of rooms) and how many of the owners have sold back the room to Marriott (i.e. to receive points or rental money.)
