Which Marriotts offer worthwhile upgrades?

I've been plat for some time, and I get upgraded about half the time. But it's usually pretty meaningless upgrades - I can barely tell the difference from the regular room to the deluxe, or from the studio to the 1-bedroom.

I thought it'd be nice to share Marriotts where complimentary upgrades are really worth while.

Maybe it's the luck of the draw DJ, but I've stayed there three times also, and had three suites. Reminds of the situation with the Marriott Milwaukee West. In another thread, a poster talked about the nice suite upgrade he had a few weeks ago and then again last week; me--in three stays, one of which included the same week he was there, I received nada, not even the concierge floor.

I've been upgraded to a very nice suite by the JW Marriott in Houston, the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott, Bay Point Marriott in Panama City. I've probably been upgraded to larger or corner rooms at a large number of marriotts.

What I have found interesting is most of the times that I have been upgraded was when I was travelling with my family. They see me come in with the wife and kids, and the next thing I know, I'm in a nice suite room. In fact, the time I stayed at the Pay Point Hotel, I was using points to get 3 rooms, one for me and the family, one for my parents, and one for my wife's parents. They went ahead and upgraded all of us to suite rooms. The parents loved it and now keep asking about getting the suite upgrades again. :D
