Incorrect Rates on Marriott.com

My apologies if a home already exists for these types of posts. I have not spent much time in the Marriott forum.

I am looking at Marriott properties in NYC June 9-12. A search for those dates shows numerous properties available along with rates starting from $XXX. When I click on any of those rates, the lowest available rate is significantly higher than what is shown on the search page. Some examples:

- Courtyard Fifth Avenue, rates from $279; lowest available is $479
- Algonquin Times Square, rates from $314; lowest available is $424
- Fairfield Inn Fifth Avenue, rates from $251, lowest available is $395

What gives? I am tempted to shout “Bait and Switch!” from the mountaintops, but I am interested to know if there is a more reasonable explanation. Thank you.

I have no insight, but this is a glitch that I've noticed on and off (in cities other than NYC) for awhile now.

Hilton is now operating the Marriott website?

Looking at the Algonquin, there is a rate change in the middle of the stay. You can get the $314 rate for the first few days, then the higher (displayed) rate on the last night.

I posted asking about this a while back, never got any meaningful responses. I go to New York almost every Labor Day weekend and this happens every year. And no, it's not a rate change during the stay, I see lots of "from $X" where the lowest rates during my intended stay are twice as much or more when I select the hotel. Haven't noticed it in other places. Can't explain it, and I have no solution other than checking lots of hotels to see what is really the cheapest for the area I want, and making a reservation & checking back weeks or months later to see if I can find a better one.

I was coming here to post the same. I stay at Marriott once per year. Checked Vegas for a trip and The Cosmopolitan is showing $170/night until I click "check rates" and the lowest rate is $500/night.

Seems a little shady.

Incorrect Rates on Marriott.com

This is been happening consistently for the past few months just to any location. They're showing you the lowest rates but not the riates of the dates you're going

Yes, I had the initial quotes (on the page right after you enter your search when all the choices are listed) change (sometimes pretty significantly) after you actually click on the supposed rate for a given hotel. I was trying to book DC area (esp. Northern VA) midweek hotels recently. It was really frustrating and annoying.

I'd like to see an example of a date range where the lowest rate they are posting is not available one of those nights. The OP's dates correctly show the lowest rate for all three hotels for that date range.

So, I'm supposed to know that when it says "rates from $170/night" but then shows $500/night that there is a rate change? I didn't even check because there is such a huge difference. That format is dumb. D. U. M. B. Do an average/night rate if there is a rate change. Anything besides showing two completely different rates.

What if it was:
$500
$500
$500
$500
$170

That is bait and switch.

I agree that displaying average rate would be best but there are people on this thread saying they don't see the rate during their stay dates AT ALL.

And I haven't seen that happen.

Maybe, like me, they didn't click through (which is the ONLY way to see the daily rate) because the rates are so much higher.

Who would think "hmm...it said $170/night but I guess I'll pay $500/night."
