Recent experience at Milan Marriott?
Does anyone have recent experience at the Milan Marriott? As a platinum, what should I expect as far as upgrades or breakfast? Does the hotel have a concierge lounge? Looking to stay for a few days at the end of May. Thanks for your help.

We stayed there a year ago using our Marriott Rewards points. When we arrived, we were greeted at the front desk and personally escorted (a first in many years of traveling) to our concierge level upgraded room. It was large and very comfortable. A nice welcoming snack arrived a few minutes later.
There is a continental breakfast available in the concierge lounge and wine/snacks at night. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night after drinks in the lobby bar, all enjoyable. |
While not anything more than a lowly MR silver, how far is this hotel from MXP and is it easy to catch a shuttle or taxi or bus? Costs for that tranfer? Anyone help with info?

Transport
Expensive option:
taxi ... expect to pay over 100* USD if the driver is not too creative, but do not worry s/he has no real need to be so, due to incredible legal high fares. Not too expensive: MXP-city center by train Malpensa Express city center-hotel by taxi, it's in the range of 25-40 USD depending on the traffic jam and on the route and... well I do not like Italian taxi driver at all ! Even less expensive but tricky: rent a car, drive to the hotel, drop off, check in and give it back to a rental office in town. MXP is considered Milan, so no drop off fee if you give the car back in a city office. Could it be feasible if it's not your first time in the city and you are not too tired. * if you go all the way by taxi and the highway it's jammed, (it happens) do not worry for the poor taxi driver, s/he will be a real happy bunny... the legal fare is based on distance, time of the day and travel time... if stopped for e.g. 40 minutes you are charged for that idle time, the maximum MXP-city center fare I hear of was in the range of 300 USD. The English verbal capabilities of a normal taxi driver are... well, Italian. Only a very few taxi driver accept credit card so you simply need cash, a lot of Euro. |
From MXP, take the Malpensa Express train to the end-of-line at Milano's Cadorna station, €11 ticket, ~40-45min.
From this station you could taxi to the hotel (~€10 + supplement with baggage). If you're more comfortable/experienced with public transport, take the #61 bus (direction Largo Brasilia), and get off at the stop on Via Washington just past the hotel. Ask the driver for Milan Marriott, and he can alert you when to get off. €1.50 for bus ticket, validate it on board. |
Just stayed here for 1 night last week (Fri). Received UG to one of the large C-level rooms on the 7th floor. Rather nice room overlooking Via Washington, but the heavy windows shielded the traffic noise below. Mgr sent up a nice bottle of wine soon after we checked in.
Large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and separate shower with side water jets. This being a Friday, they only set out nuts/chips and drinks in the lounge during the day, no evening appetizers or morning breakfast. They do, however, give complementary breakfast in the Brasserie for Golds/Plats. |
I stayed there about two years ago and it was being transitioned over from a Ramada to a Marriott and the rooms on any level were nothing to write home about. It sounds as if they have improved that since I stayed there.
The restaurant IIRC was above average for a hotel restaurant and the lounge provided a nice hot entree in the evening. The biggest plus to the hotel was the very residential area that the hotel was located in. Dan |
