Using PPs on an award stay is not allowed by the T&Cs. However, the manager should have caught that early in the stay & rejected them quickly. It's wrong to reject them after the customer has relied on their being accepted. Remember that some customers don't read the fine print & it is the job of Marriott employees to know how to accept Marriott paper properly (or the managers' discretion to be nice by ignoring the rules & letting customers get lucky ;). )

I have a pre paid booking at the renaissance Zurich through a travel agent, i also have a 100 euro bonus bucks, does anyone have experience of using their bonus bucks for incidentals in zurich? thanks
|
The hotel booking systems in use have currency conversion systems built into them and the hotel can program in rates. The problem is finding clerks who know how to use the systems properly.
My stay last week using $ bonus buck was posted to folio as BONUS BUCK $100 and amounted to euro 73.69. Hotel conversion rates tend to be between 3% to 6% off bank rates and you do loose a little by using them where not local currency. The Extra Euros Coupon given at check-out had standard 6 month expirery at 1 january 2007. |
Another thing to remember is the booked rate and currency.
I had one big problem - booked rate was in USD and converted to local currency at the "sell" rate, let's say 50. In this case real rate would have been 45. Then, bonus bucks were processed at the buy rate, not cash but TCs, something like 37. I raised hell at check out, but it obviously went nowhere this being an Asian hotel. Ridiculous nevertheless. |

Maybe you should contact Marriott Rewards at the 800# and let them know about this. I agree with Brendan in that when you checkout, the folio you have when you checkout should be the final one. The amount owed on the folio shouldn't change. If management has a problem with the folio, you should know upfront. |
Still working on it

I received an eloquent email from the London count Hall property on Friday in response to my disputing the charge on the Marriott Visa. The rep apologized for the inconvenience caused but held firm on the charges. I thanked her for the contact, but stated that I expect the charges to be removed and asked where the Premium Pounds should be returned to. I believe that Marriott will work things out. The hotel should be able to redeem that certs for full value so no one is actually out any $. |

hunter69 - that is some rotten service you are getting from Marriott. Good luck fighting it - sounds like you have a couple of avenues.
I have a stay at Marriott Metro Center at the end of the month and was wondering if anyone has had recent luck with redeeming BB for M11 (I think, it is Never Ending Getaways Rate) there or at other Marriotts recently? Thanks!! |

Thanks!! I have used 2--$50 BBs on a 2-night stay. Granted, the BBs stipulates 1 coupon per 2 day stay, but since I had an expiration date forthcoming, I didn't have a problem with the front desk accepting them. Also refer to my post on this page of the thread (# 272). Marcell |
Thanks Marcell - they let you use all that stuff AND gave you new BB at check-out?? You are the man! ^
Thanks for the reply. |

Thanks for the reply. At the Crystal Gateway in Arlington, VA, I gave the manager on duty a $50 BB for 1 night. He took it without question. Granted, the rules say otherwise, but I just asked him. I received the BB for this stay at checkout. Even when I stayed for 2 nights there, I paid w/ a BB and received the $100 BB at checkout. You should have no problem. |
Marriott Bonus Bucks Question
Hi--
Wanted to ask a quick question. A few months back I made a reservation at at the JW Marriott in Las Vegas for $149/night (4 nights) via the Marriott website. I now have access to a $100 Marriott Bonus Bucks Coupon (did not have it when I made the reservation). Can I use the coupon just by showing the coupon when I check in at the hotel, or did I have to have mentioned the coupon when I made the reservation? Also, as I am staying 4 nights, can Icuse another Bonus Bucks Coupon, or would I have had to made two reservations for 2 nights each to do this. Thanks as always. Steve |
