Back up to post #62 and start reading.

I just came back from a 1 night stay at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia. Using the M11 code, the rate was $119.00. I went up to an Asst. Manager at the front desk and told him to apply the $50.00 Bonus Buck to my account. Without any ?, he posted it. I was able to get the 1 night stay for $69 (plus tax).
Plus, I received my regular Bonus Buck at checkout. Anyone else ever experienced anything like this. |
Obviously, this was a mistake, because Bonus Buck usage requires a 2-night stay. I'm sure that many of us have experienced mistakes in our favor, but I wouldn't count on it!

bonus bucks
what does anyone think my chances are with this one?
northern new jersey weekend in early april. using my bonus bucks to book $94 a night for 2 nights and get another bonus bucks at checkout? any chance of this going through? i cant think of a better way to use it?? |
It shouldn't be a problem, unless somebody claims that the bonus-buck-earning rate isn't "publicly available." I would certainly debate that point.

So, did anyone ever try using the bonus bucks on an award stay yet?
|
Anyone know if one can combine Bonus bucks & cheque during same stay, assuming the 2-day stay is met. I always considered cheque same as cash but not sure of fine print of Bonus bucks. Did a little digging and found this in the fine print of BBs:
Bonus BucksŪ Coupons cannot be used in conjunction with any other certificate stays, reservations made using a travel agency, catering, group, AAA and other contract rates Is "certificate stay" same as using the Gift cheques? I assume it was more like the "free night" certificates, anyone have any experience with this? Thanks. |
Ive used Both for the same Stay several times w/o any problems at a few different Hotels
|
Thanks, that'll help some planning

i just used some bonus bucks in honolulu (actually premium pounds)- be warned, they were not keen on using them on the rate i had booked the room for ($190) and insisted that i pay $210/night in order to make use of them whic was alittle frustrating. Apparently i had gotten a rate that only marriot rewards members had access to which meant i couldnt use vouchers towards my stay so beware!!!

M12 is theoretically only available to elites, but I've never seen it yield anything different than M11. Latest versions of the Bonus Bucks specifically prohibit auto club rates, but other publicly-available rates should be honored, including M11. Unless the rules are tightening yet again - if it gets to the point where a Bonus Buck becomes as limited as Starwood's SPG50, then they won't be nearly as worthwhile to pursue in the first place. |

Although some folks might have had some luck with using BB's on stays booked on a third party,or opaque, site I feel that you are asking for disapointment here.
If it works-great!However the hotel is under no obligation to accept BB's when you book in this manner, nor do they have to give you points or stay credit.Yes-it might happen-but better chance that it will not. So be prepared to be told "Sorry, but the rate you booked is inelligable for use with bonus bucks"or something like that. |
