So hope that the Hotel you stay in isnt like the 1 I usually do where they in fact have a Lousy Exchange Rate thats in their favor. if the Hotel doesnt exchange Money then you hit the JackPot as they will surely use whatever amount that Ms Converter shows them

The hotels always use the rates that are in their favor. The real question is how bad that rate is, 10% or worse

Konsultant, as Craz & I have posted & discussed on the phone, the best deal on PPs is in US burg towns & suburban areas whose Marriotts don't have a forex desk, so they use the rate on the above link, which is the mid-market rate or very close.

Trouble is, hotels with a forex desk get their rate from the bank down the street where they go to get their domestic money back, so it depends on how greedy :( that bank is + some hotels add in their own greed.

What surprises me is that very few hotels will sell foreign cash to customers, to save them from taking it to the bank, where it complicates their deposit. OTOH, in a country where staff want to keep dollars as dollars & not exchange into their own currency, it makes sense not to give the customer nor the bank that bargain!

If I am paying part of a 2 night stay with a $100 gift cheque that I received from the VISA promotion, can I also use a $100 bonus buck to just about pay for the rest of the bill?

bigguyinpasadena Jan 11, 2006 8:37 am

Yes you can.Just make sure that the total will be $200 or more as you will not get change.

Richard1148 Jan 11, 2006 9:07 am

Great. Thanks. Total will be a little over $200, so this will work out good.

Is the promo still valid as I still find rates "stay for breakfast"? But no mentioning of bonus bucks

bdschobel Jan 13, 2006 7:06 am

The latest similar promo uses code M11. It may be valid only in the U.S.

In order for the BBs to have the greatest effect, try to pick the lowest rates possible. For instance, a friend of mine made a stay at the Washington Dulles Marriott Suites near or at Washington D.C. over the weekend. The weekend rate according to him was $75 per night. So for a 2-night stay, that $150 minus a $100 BB which equals $50 (plus tax).

Has anyone out there found a great hotel deal like this or better involving the BBs?

Marcell Jan 15, 2006 9:30 pm

When you book a reservation for a 2-night weekend stay with the M11 code, have any of you asked for 2 $50 BBs in place of the $100 BBs, or do you accept what they give you?

Also, do you receive BBs for each room that you book?

bdschobel Jan 15, 2006 11:28 pm

I've never gotten anything but one $100 Bonus Buck certificate, never two $50s. I prefer one $100, anyway. It's much easier (for me) to use.

You should receive Bonuis Bucks for each room that you pay for, but I have never had this experience myself.

I recently used Bonus Bucks on an $84 rate (also near Dulles, coincidentally!). But I disagree that this gives them "the greatest effect." The effect is to reduce your bill by exactly $100, whatever rate you are paying. I agree that your net cost is lower when paying lower rates, but that's true with or without Bonus Bucks. Anyway, most of us look for the lowest rate wherever we need to be. Having Bonus Bucks won't affect that decision-making process one bit. Finally, be careful about trying to use Bonus Bucks on the very lowest rates, because they might not allow for Bonus Buck usage.

I just take what they give... for me $100 is a $100. ^

Bonus Bucks / PREMIUM POUNDS

I have been looking at many of the old posts, but can not see where people get the certs. Is there a promo code that I have been missing at checkin or somthing?
