When they had the big promo recently, IIRC the T&C stated the Bonus Bucks expired 3 months from issue.

Read this thread is you are getting Bonus Bucks with Quick Exp. Dates
Just checked in to the Marriott Suites IAD (great property) for a little getaway. $80/night and getting $100 BB and Bfast ^
They gave us a BB expiring Feb 2. :td: The promo advertised a 3 month expiration on the BB's. The clerk (very nice) told me they received one pack of BB's at the beginning of the promo and thats all they had. He gave it to us (at check in) and off we went. I called MR and to see if there was anything to do. Apparently, the first supply was shipped, but the properties were to order newer batches to maintain as close to 90 day expirations as possible. The customer care rep called the hotel and explained the process and is having them send me a new one after they get "fresh" ones. Awesome service, as long as I get it! |
That explains the January 26 one that I got from the Redmond Town Center Marriott in the mail. They ran out of BBs, and I got mine two weeks after I checked out. I plan on using that one before New Year's, but I would be complaining if it was not the case. The Tysons Corner Marriott gave me a February 9 one a few weeks ago.

I guess I should have said that if you are getting squeezed on dates call Customer Care and they will help you out :D
|
That is okay. I want some newer ones down the road. I currently have 3: January 26, February 2, and February 9. I would like to get some for late February and early March (to bridge the EEO gap).
|
Yes, we are coming back here Feb 25-27 IIRC. I dont want to get a BB with a Feb 2 exp :D

Just back from the Jacksonville Marriott. Rate booked was $100 bonus buck with free breakfast. I am going to have to label this promo as a YMMV.
This morning before leaving for breakfast the manager walked over to us and informed me that since I used an EEO for the night, breakfast was not included...but as an elite they were willing to comp it. I told her that breakfast should be included..but since they covered it I did not press the issue. At check out I was also told that since I used an EEO I did not qualify for the Bonus Buck. This one I argued a little harder. They did wind up giving me the bonus buck, but only after some discussion. Overall a great stay at the Jacksonville Marriott. Yes the hotel is older....but in my opinion, the staff at this hotel is among the friendliest in the chain. Also spent one night at the World Golf Village. While I was upgraded to a larger room, the whole place was just a little off. Yes it was Thanksgiving, but I found staff to be somewhat unfriendly..housekeeping lacking and the pool are to be dirty (or was that mold at the bottom of the pool/hot tub?). |
Bonus Bucks : "Same as cash" or is it ?
I just used a Bonus Bucks 100$ coupon at a full service marriott and noticed something unpleasant about the rewards credited for that stay on my MR account ....
It looks like the Bonus Bucks are deducted from the room rate such that it reduces the points awarded ... The receipt from the property does show the bonus buck on a separate line showing a "CASH Bonus Bu Credit" and the room rate for each night is as expected on the receipt but the it doesn't line up with the credit on the MR account ... Given the lack of specific mentions in the fine print of the coupon and the liberal use of the "same as cash" sentence about those coupons I am thinking that I should be getting the points for the full room rate as booked ... After all if I was paying everything in CASH Marriott would still credit points for the whole rate right .... Anyone has encountered this before ? is this a fluke ? or is this one of those unprinted fine prints ? Thanks ! |
We used one last weekend. It showed on the receipt as a $100 cash credit towards our folio. We received the full amount of points. I think its one of those things where the desk clerk doesnt always know how to enter it. THey can enter it as a credit or deduct it from room rate (as in your case).
I truly don't know the actual proper procedure, but I like getting the maximum number of points! |

The front desk applied the bonus bucks certificate incorrectly to your invoice. Happens all the time because staff is not trained porperly, so always double check the foilo before accepting it.
The OP said that the room rate was correct and not reduced and his folio had a line item for bonus buck that read "CASH Bonus Bu Credit" which sounds like a form of payment. |
Yes, you should get points.
Get in touch with MR and send a copy of the folio, explaining the credit entry was BB and they should add the points... |

Bonus Bucks limited?
I just received my BB from the last breakfast promo and noticed that the BB is limited to JW Marriotts, Marriotts and Renaissance.
Is this normal? I was going to use it for a stay where there is only a Courtyard and lower chains. |
