Going downstairs right now

----

Just came back....They saw that I'm supposed to get them and said that I will get them tomorrow. Works for me...

Now...The tough question...Should I get 100$ or 2x 50$ I know the 100$'s can't be used in Courtyards or Residence Inns

You'll get one $100 cert in the normal course of events. You could request two $50s, and they might agree (assuming they have both on hand), but keep in mind that you need four nights to use the two $50s and only two nights to use the $100.

Greenbelt Marriott Refuses to Give Bonus Bucks

Reserved a room and stayed last week explicitly under the promotion in which many NE US Marriotts are offering $50 BB for 1 night stay, $100 for 2 night stay. They refused to give me one at the end of my stay and claimed that no Marriott ever gives out a $50 bonus bucks good at other Marriott brand hotels, like the $50 ones. they have been signed up for this promotion all year and apparently are stiffing their customers on this. Called the national customer service right at the hotel front desk and they got the clerk and told them to give me a BB. Greenbelt Marriott (MD) said they didn't have any. Case is still under dispute.

Another very good reason to insist -- politely -- on getting them at check-in, as I always do, even when it upsets the staff very much.

I have always received them upon check-out and have never had a problem. I do confirm that I will get one when I check in and note the employee's name. Since I've never had a problem, I don't feel a need to make an issue out of it when I check in

Many of us, myself included, have had problems at checkout -- and that's when you really don't have time to deal with problems. There's nothing in the rules for qualifying rates or the terms and conditions of the certificates themselves that says you have to wait until you check out to receive them. You earned them as soon as you checked in and should get them immediately -- and now I do.

Actually, the M11 rules for my reservation specifically said there must be a wednesday night stay which would be tonight...I did verify that I was supposed to get them so my guess is that they did not want to give them to me at check-in so that I don't check out the next morning and avoid staying the wednesday night stay requirement

Applies to rate(s) above:
Additional fees may apply.
Rate(s) Quoted in: US Dollars
Plus tax when applicable.
ACCOMMODATION RULE(S)
Must stay over night of
- WE OR TH OR FR OR SA

More power to you, Brucie. For me, it's Marriott's program so I'll let it give them to me on its "terms." Clearly, YMMV.

Since you're always so rushed at checkout, let me share a tip with you. If you call down and ask, the certificates will be waiting for you to pick up as you walk by.

bdschobel Dec 22, 2005 6:00 am

Your confidence in the front desk is touching. My experiences have ranged from "what certificate" to "we're all out; you'll get one in the mail" (yeah, sure). And as far as getting them on Marriott's "terms," what terms exactly do you have in mind? The rules don't say you get Bonus Bucks when you check out! If that's what you want to do, have a ball. But I'd rather be sure to get them, and I get them when I check in.

Hopefully, I'll never be behind you when you're checking in.

Marriott's "terms" are that it can give me the BBs whenever they want to. Clearly, the policy varies (for good reason, as was noted in with the stay where the BB was earned on the second night) so I'm flexible. All the matters is that I get it before I depart and, so far I have, every time.

bdschobel Dec 22, 2005 6:51 am

You are defining the absence of terms to be "terms." As far as I'm concerned, except in exceptional circumstances like those described above (and I agree with the interpretation in that unusual case), Bonus Bucks are earned at the moment of checkin and should be delivered right then and there. If you desire or are merely content to wait until later, even until checkout, be my guest (or Marriott's!). I prefer not to have an argument about this when I'm checking out and have limited time. Such arguments have occurred.

Yes, the quotes should have been your first clue.

As you prove, it takes two to argue.

can I use Marriott $100 pound Bonus Buck to pay for 2 nights stay at Marriott hotel in lake tahoe instead of my credit card being charged?

Earn & Use in BB Same Stay?

I have never used Bonus Bucks, have searched the threads but can't find this answer: I will be staying at a Marriott in Arlington at the end of this month and should receive $100 in Bonus Bucks. At the end of March, I will be at a Marriott in Raleigh and will earn another $100 in Bonus Bucks. Can I use the Bonus Bucks earned in Arlington toward the the stay in Raleigh and still receive the Bonus Bucks for the Raleigh stay?
Thanks,
Liatris

You can not use a BB you've earned during a stay for that same stay...so as long as you earned it before that stay you'll be ok (most folks here are saying they are handing them to the GSA at check-in)
