You should receive them when you check out.

that's what I feared ... will have to call the gold line on Monday to sort this out. I checked out early in the morning and the airport shuttle was already waiting ... forgot to ask :o

Hmm so I just got my $50 "Bonus Bucks" coupon...

On the front it says good toward a "stay at any Residence Inn by Marriott location" but on the back in the T&C's it lists other Marriott brands

Also, I just received the coupon today 8/11 and it expires on 9/24 just a little over a month later (and giving me only the next 5 weekends to use it)

I was going to go on the Coupon Exchange forum on Flyertalk to see if someone needed my coupon but it is in "time-out"?

Call the hotel that issued you the short date coupon and ask them to reissue you a coupon with longer expiry date (I think Marriott standard is usually 4 months).

You may want (or need) to explain that your short-term future travel plans are already in place and the coupon will be of no use to you.

I've had this happen before and was able to get replacements rather easily. You could ask for a $50 credit or Marriott gift card if they are unable to send a replacement certificate.

Sometimes, it just seems like Marriott is trying to nail it to the customer at every turn :(

5.9LITRE Aug 11, 2009 7:55 pm

Marriott Cust Serv said it's the hotel that issues the certificate so they can't do anything and the hotel said that the expiration date is accurate. I said Marriott said there was a 3mth date and I probably got an old cert but all the Cust Serv would say is that the hotel reiterated my expiration date is correct and there is nothing they can do.

That hotel will probably end up losing $2700 of my business over the way they handled a $50 promotion.

Is Bonus bucks still available?

I was told that Bonus bucks had been discontinued. is that true?

dayone Aug 23, 2009 4:13 pm

Premium Pounds are gonzo. Bonus Bucks are still around but not as available as they once were.

MemphisQueen Aug 23, 2009 7:56 pm

I pretty much stay at the Ren in Carmel, In every week and rack one up every week...and watch them all expire. I keep them thinking I'll use 'em for a personal trip but I never get to take any! The whole work thing keeps getting in the way.....

Used to be able to find at least 10 - 15 vendors selling Marriott Bonus Bucks at Ebay on any given day, now maybe just one or two.
Marriott cracking down on Ebay?

Not exactly.

It has been speculated that eBay considers the certificates to be gift card-like, in that they are valid for more than one "product." Supposedly, sales of gift cards are prohibited on eBay.

MemphisQueen Aug 25, 2009 10:25 pm

Thanks to all who contacted me. My current stash of bonus bucks (and the ones i'll earn this month) are being put to good use and are already spoken for.

If I get more next month, I'll be sure to post to find someone who can use them as well :)

I agree. I have been trying for a month to buy them on Ebay for my upcoming trip with no luck at all. Each time I bid on one it seems the item is removed by Ebay. I was also looking though craiglist with no luck either. I guess like you said, they just aren't given out as muchh anymore.

Don't know about your company's expense policy, but can't you use the bucks for work stays and submit the receipt and get cash from that?

My company urges us to pay with with the corporate card, but doesn't require it. So long as I submit a receipt with the total cost somewhere, I get reimbursed for it, regardless of what my FOP is. I'll use the MC Visa, toss in a bonus buck cert or Gift Cheque here and there, and still get reimbursed for the full cost. So if my stay was $600, use a couple of bonus bucks worth $100, put $500 on my MC visa, the company still cuts a check to me for $600.

Puts a c-note in my pocket.

Nada for me - it's REQUIRED to use our corp AmEx, hence the reason I think the current promotion requiring visa sucks. I was close to my next reward thresshold on my personal Amex last year; so I used it instead and was questioned by mgmt (oh dear me, did I use the wrong amex on accident??!?). but i dont think I could get away with it again!
