Hotel+Air package transferability question
 

I read the terms and conditions for the Hotel + Air package, but they dont address the question of transferability. I want to gift a trip to one of my family members. The points are from my account and I want to redeem them for a hotel + air package. I will have the miles credited to my FF account so I can book their air tickets. I wanted to book the hotel room in their name, but MR CS said that they could only book the hotel room in my name.

Anyone have any experience with using the Hotel+Air package as a gift?

I can't say for sure, but what you want to do doesn't seem unreasonable.

If we've learned one thing from Flyertalk, it's to keep calling until you get the answer you want, so I'd try again.

In the worst case, you can book the room in your name and list the other party as additional guests. Put a note on the res that you'll be arriving later. Then don't show up.

I did this in 2004, and got the hotel cert issued in my sister name. So the hotel reservation was also made in her name.

I did this by ring the CS @ London.
