I just reached Gold Elite for the 1st time and I was wondering what promotions generally are associated with Gold Elite? For instance is the B1G1 free promotion available? Are the various promotions seasonal or do they occur at different times through the year?
Please advise. |
The Elite Exclusive Offers (EEO) are available to Golds, and they do include the B1G1 ofers for weekend nights at participating Renaissance and Marriott properties, and the B1G1 entree {sic} offers at participating Renaissance and Marriott restaurants.
The offers come out periodically ("search" will get you lots of discussion on that point) with a wide varience when they were only sent in the mail, but since Marriott has begun posting them on the Marriott Rewards website, it should be less random. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a set time they are posted (like, say, the 15th of the first month in the quarter). To check whether the offers are posted, go to the Marriott Rewards website (link in previous paragraph) and log in. When the machine recognizes you as a Gold, it will show a new page, and toward the bottom of that page there will be a link to: View all Gold offers >> Click on that link, and check out the offers. Sometimes it's just the rental car stuff, but when the EEO post, that's where you will find them. (Or at least, that's where they were posted before.) |
This past week, I checked my account and saw the EEO's on my account. The B1G1 free hotel night as well as the B1G1 free meal promotion posted as well. This will help me out with my next stay that's coming up.

Surprise Gold Status
Not that i'm complaining, but i just magically got upgraded to Gold. I only have 29 nights on the year so far... (and while i definitely will hit 75 by year end)... i thought it was just a pleasant surprise.
Any thoughts? |
Congratulations on your upgrade. ^
As to why, since Marriott uses a rolling year basis to help decide on elite levels, might you have another 21 nights from May/June of last year? Also, if you applied for the new Marriott Premier Visa card, it adds another 15 nights to your nights total. But whatever the reason, enjoy your newfound status. :) |
Ahh... it's the Rolling... i had like 25 nights last year from june on, when i started my new job! Thanks!
|
Same thing happened to me recently. Per their letter, I still need to reach 50 nights (Need 11 more) to maintain Gold status through 2007.
Do you have the Marriott Premier card? If you're able to get it, you'll earn 15 nights at check-in and every year thereafter. |
Yep, I got a pity upgrade from Silver to Gold from Marriot at the beginning of this year as well, the fun part is, I'm not even sure if I was ever Gold with Marriot in the first place.
|
does anyone know if there is a way to find out your "rolling" night balance? i gotta be really close to 75 and if i am... i would totally just go stay somewhere for the heck of it.

You can probably figure it out by looking at your nights stayed online. Just log into your Rewards account and go to the Marriott Rewards Activity page. I think the system defaults to only showing your stays for the last 4 months. But there is a drop-down menu that will allow you to view your stays over a longer period, upto 13 months I think. You can also call the Rewards Help Line listed on the back of your Membership card. They can tell you exactly what your night count is over the last 12 months. |
Thanks a ton!

RE: B1G1 Free Night Certificate
Hello,
Has anyone ever used the B1G1 Free EEO that you get as a Gold/Plat member more than once during the time frame that's allowed? For example, after I checked "Gold Offers" under marriott.com, there's a deadline date of August 28th for this EEO. Can you print many of these EEOs online and use them or is it limited to one use per period. |

See Item #6 under the Terms & Conditions: 6. Offer honored once per member. https://marriott.com/rewards/mesOffe...splayLink=true There are two different promotions - one for Marriotts and one for Renaissance hotels. You can use one at each during the promotion period. |
Yes, we all can see the rule, but is it enforced? Somehow, I don't think so. And I don't believe that Marriott cares if you use these multiple times. They are happy to sell the empty rooms on weekends.

IIRC, Chris once stated that the preprinted coupons and the printable online coupons could each be used once (assuming you received the preprinted coups during the promotion period and had enough time to use them).
I'm hazy on the details, though, so interested parties may want to do a search and some digging through old posts. |
