Why I am loyal to Marriott.

I got an email(private-I had chatted with this person before so he had my email addie)from someone who post fairly regularly on this board the other day questionining my choice of Marriott as my "lodging of choice".

Now all of my hotel picks are independent. Most are leisure and the few biz stays I have each year I am allowed to pick my own and am then reimbursed(and the per diem on this is pretty small)I have managed this past year to stay exclusively at Marriott branded hotels.

There have been some reall lulus of snafus during a few of these stays. And I usually post on this board about these.I also post when I stay at a very good property. There are a lot(the majority)that are never mentioned because everything went just as it should and there was nothing remarkable-either good nor bad-about the hotel.I do tend to stay in full service properties.

Well this FlyerTalker was questioning my choice after reading a recent rant of mine(regarding the Las Vegas Renaissance-thread now locked)on FlyerTalk.

I really like most of the properties I have stayed in this past year.I like the standards set by the head office for the folks who run/own the properties.I like that corperate HQ will stand behind their service standards when a particular property drops the ball.I like the courtesy displayed by everyone I have dealt with at the corporate level.

I also like the Marriott Rewards program. The fact that I can earn points on any rate I book through Marriott.com has earned me points-this is not the practice in some other chains.Ilike the frequent bonus propmtions.

Although the mid and upper tier levels of elite are very difficult for a leisure traveller to obtain,I will be reaching gold this next month thanks to the generousity of the folks at MR.I know this is no big whoop to many of you road warriors on FT-but it took some doing belive me.

I also think the rewards offered are fairly"priced"and easy for the leisure traveler to obtain. The trick for me is to be patiant and save my points for a really special award.

So even though there have been some major"situations"regarding specific properties.all in all I am very happy with Marriott and look forward to spending more time at their properties.

I'm a loyal Marriott customer, too. Though all my stays are business-related, I pay for them out of my own pocket. I settled on Marriotts because they are consistent, their range meets all my needs, and the individual properties have, so far, been willing to deal for a large number of nights.

But I have so many nights each year, it's worth it to me to be top-tier in more than one chain.

Oh, and not to be plonking, but I've mentioned this before. :)
