How long for a refund?

So I noticed that I earned points for a stay at the beginning of the month that I had cancelled. Uh oh. I checked my credit card, and sure enough, I'd been charged what looked like a no-show fee.

I called the Plat line on Monday and got transferred to whatever desk handles these things. They confirmed that They could see that I had cancelled the ressie, and said that my credit card would be credited in one to two billing cycles.

Is that typical? Might it really take 30-60 days to post the credit? Or is that just a worst-case scenario? It sure doesn't take them 60 days to post the charges...

Depends on how the bank who issued the credit card handles refunds, some like to sit on credits (as it their right under the credit card agreements and their agreements with the associations (VS/MC etc) but thankfully most typically post a credit to your account within a few days of receiving it from the merchant....with this said it shouldn't take 30-60 days for the hotel to issue a credit back to your bank, my personal expectations are 48 hours max but given the holidays and the fact that alot of people take time off around them I'd give them some additional time

Normally it posts faster, but they will tell you the longer time period just in case it DOES take longer. You can't really blame them for that.
