A couple of years ago, I got a letter asking what more Marriott could do for me. I pointed out that I had lost one of my luggage tags, and would appreciate a new set. Within two weeks my wish was granted, as witnessed by a letter from Uncle Bill!

 "Who's Bill?" Please, tell me you aren't serious. His picture hangs in the lobby of every Marriott property and his last name is...you guessed it...M A R R I O T T.

Hey, I may flame them when slow, but I better "man-up" and thank 'em when they show up.

Thanks Marriott for the luggage tag!!

I got the "thanks for staying 25 nights so far this year as a Silver" and a $5 Starbucks gift card (no luggage tags).

Thanks to this thread, I checked my account online (I have 39 nights this year). Like others, I was very pleased to see my account upgraded to Gold (first time ever at this status). Go Flyertalk!

In terms of relevant stats, I have 14 nights booked in Marriotts in the next month, although I will actually end up staying about 7 of those. On a rolling 12-month basis, I had either 48 or 51 nights depending on when they counted (I had a 3-night stay a year and a week ago).

What's Marriott Doing ??

Early upgrades ... Silver to Gold, Gold to Plat ?? I am confused, 70% there and Marriott upgrades ? Starbucks gift cards, luggage tags !! Wow ... 146 nights for me so far this year: No Starbucks, no luggage tags, no upgrades, never a "C" room available (here's the key though) ... Makes you wonder !! It appears loyalty with Marriott works one way !! :(

We can be confused together! I have 96 nights so far this year and I have received nothing as well. I was plat in 2001 & 2002, gold since then, plat again this year. Go figure.

Been Platinum or Platinum Premier for at least 5-6 years, got over 100 nights this year, no luggage tags thus far. But, that 25,000 points selective offer for stays between 6/15 & 9/15 sure came in handy eventhough I never was able to sign-up for it myself. You get 5000 points for every 3 stays between 6/15 & 9/15 this summer, if you have not signed up, just call them and they can manually set you up, the stays already taken from 6/15 thru now are retroactive. I was told the offer was only sent out to about 500,000 members, as a marketing tool. Enjoy!

I received the same one. The note mentioned my 25 nights this year (I am currently at 59).

No Tags Either

70+ nights this year. PLT for last 3. 30 more nights at least for this year. No luggage tags either.

Begging for upgrades is getting a little old too.

I'm considering putting myself up for bid for next year's travel.

Just got mine, though it could have been in the company mailbox for weeks. It's a little bright for my taste... not sure I would call it burgandy. Red comes to mind, and it's huge. I would have preferred black or tan i think, or better yet, the $5 SBUX card.

Think they are giving these things out as you approach requalification, but don't really care once you're past it?

I got one the other day - I thought they sent me my gold card as I'm over 50 nights. I opened the package and there was a fairly ugly, huge tag (doesn't match any of my luggage) with a note saying thank you for being a silver member and staying 25 nights.

I take it I'll be Platinum by the time I get the gold card then.

PCMflyer Sep 1, 2005 2:53 pm

I got mine about two weeks ago right after I requalified for gold. I'm always confused by the selection process at Marriott. I rarely get targeted promo's and that is what I would really like to receive.

Didn't get luggage tags or the Starbucks card.
