Niagara Fallsview
Just a quick question to see if other members here have had problems with Niagara fallsview hotel.
I was there last weekend, in a Jnr Presidential Suite (with spa). The room was lovely, excellent view etc, but the room was missing the quality I've become used to with Marriott. E.g. no shampoo etc in bathroom, fuzzy tv reception, could here banging (hammering) pipes in nearby rooms (from spa we assume). The biggest dissapointment for me was when wife and I decided to have a little romance and use the in room spa before dinner in the restaurant. We thought it would be nice to have some champers and stawberries, so put the room service order through. 20 mins later, nothing, so I called room service who said they would check on it. 15 mins later nothing, so I called at your service, they were apologetic and said they would see to it. 15 minutes later, still nothing. It was over an hour from the order to recieving it... We were totally over the champers in the spa idea by that point (wife had been in, I was waiting for champers, until water got cold and she got out!!) Other little annoyances, included at your service not refering to me by name, and if I called to say order room service rather than taking my order themselves would transfer me to room service line (which would ring and then be put on hold for 5 mins), not my experience in others where they normally take care of everything for me straight away without transfer. Now I appreciate that it was probably a busy time, and some of these things are big issues, but collectively left me a dissapointed. (Not with Niagara itself though, what a beautifull place!!) If they are busy they should have more staff. Seeings as it cost me over CAD 1600 for the weekend (Fri + Sat night), I didn't feel it was money well spent, I could have had the same bad service in a lesser & cheaper hotel! Anyway, its not my general experience with Marriott, which is why I use them a lot (not a lot relative to some of you lot I know, but I'm about to reach gold and that is mainly leasure travel!) Was it just bad luck, or is this hotel normally like this? Gary |
A lot of that doesn't sound good.
I think it's odd that At Your Service didn't call you by name. Either the phone agent slipped, or their system isn't up to speed with showing guest names on rooms (although that would be odd by 2005 for so incredibly popular a hotel). Wow, banging pipes! <eek /> You should summarize those things in a bullet-point list and mail copies to Guest Relations in Omaha and to the hotel's GM. |
It has been a few years since I stayed at that property but felt generally underwhelmed by the experience. It was September so the crowd was a little thinner than peak summer travel but the place felt like a ghost town....not enough staff or services. I thought I was the only person there at times and I am not a fan of extension cords snaking all through the lobby for days at a time. It was almost as if I was in the way. I am glad I had the Falls experience but I prefer a day trip to Canada when I am visiting Western NY.
