Melbourne Marriott

Anyone stay at the Melbourne Marriott recently (last 12 months)? I'm trying to decide which hotel use for a 2 night stay (Jan 12-14) and we've looked at the Grand Hyatt, Hilton, and the Marriott.

Any recommendations?

I stayed there for 3 nights around November 30th...good central location, I was on the 8th floor I believe, the one with the concierge lounge....room was fairly large and clean, nothing more than that, very basic. Bathroom was decent size as well and spotless. For a basic clean hotel room, if the price is right, you cannot go wrong. Concierge lounge is basic, one hot item each morning at breakfast and drinks etc. in the evening.

The 'Hot' property in Melbourne is the newly refurbished Sofitel.

The Marriott looks a lot closer to the downtown than the Hilton so there's a vote for the Marriott. :)

We stayed in the Mercure Grand in November which had nice rooms but the walls were 1 cm thick and the guests on the other side of us didn't seem to underderstand the meaning of 'no smoking floor'. But the location was fantastic in the downtown area where you can walk to everything (handy for those 'no passenger cars' areas). But next time we'll stay at the Novotel.
