5000 Bonus MR Points

Hi,

I recently took out a Marriot Platinum Visa card in the UK. This came with 5000 bonus points.

On my MR account, I have my spending converted to British Airways miles, at the rate of 3 miles per $.

How will the 5000 bonus points be handled? Will they transfer automatically to BA miles, and if so, at what rate?

I can't seem to find any information about this anywhere.

Thanks,
Rick

Sorry Dude...But you're not gonna get anything. You only get points...if you choose miles...you don't get any bonus...

At least that's my understanding...

Solution...Switch to points...get the 5K...switch back to miles...then convert the points to miles.

HOWEVER, I would encourage you to collect points...not miles. It's pretty well agreed upon, that points are the better deal...

Oh well, I guess I should have checked *before* I ordered my card :-)

Thanks for the info.

Rick,

Even if you are earning miles on your Marriott Rewards account, you are still entitled to the 5,000 bonus points (provided you are approved for the card). These points will remain on your account until you have enough to to redeem them.

Once you have at least 10,000 Marriott Reward points, they can be converted into BA miles. You can also use them towards other rewarding options such as free stays, car rentals, and much more. For more information check out MarriottRewards.com or click on the link below.

Thanks,

Great, the 5000 miles posted today.

I've just had a 2 night stay at the Marriott LHR which should bag me another 5000 or so points. I can then convert them to 2000 BA miles. Saves 'wasting' the 5000 promotional points

Thanks,
Rick
