Maintaining Platinum
 

I am a pltimum of 3 years, I am not going to make it this year, as I was overseas in a city where there was not a Marriott, How can I maintain my status? Any ideas? Have thought about moving to Hiltons if not..

Well, you will still be Gold as they will only drop you one level. So no 48 hour guarantee, no Platinum arrival gift, you will get 25% bonus points instead of 30%, and you will be behind the Platinum elite members for upgrades.

You can always take the Platinum Challenge
 

Earlier this year I took the Platinum Challenge as I wound up 20 nights short at the end of 2003. I had to stay 12 nights within a 60 day period or 18 nights within a 90 day period and then I was back to Platinum for the rest of the year. ^ Call the Platinum line after Jan. 1 and ask for the Platinum Challenge!

If you remain a gold, as the previous posted indicated you will lose the 48 hour guarantee and your bonus goes from 30% to 25%. However, you will get access to the Conceirge lounge, but you will probably never see an upgrade. Upgrades have been very, very rare for me as a platinum over the last 3 years. :( :mad:

As the two previous posters have pointed out I would disregard the "benefit" of an upgrade. The upgrade to the best available room benefit is the most misleading statement I have ever encountered in print. I don't consider a room on the concierge floor an upgrade, its the same #$&@!%? room with a bathrobe hanging in the closet. As insignificant as these rooms are they are still impossible to come by (I usually find myself on the 2nd floor in the next to the elevators even though my profile state "high floor" and I always put "as far away from elevators as possible, thanks." in the comment box).
