Does marriott match any other companies status ever?

Earlier this year, Marriott agreed to comp status for me. I am Diamond for Hilton, and got there with about 30 stays and 35 or 40 nights in 2003.

Since Marriott only goes by nights, I was given Marriot Silver status. I had to fax them my Hilton online statement to prove the number of nights I had in 2003.

I just called the general Marriott rewards number and the agent answering the phone did the comp on the spot.

It might be worth marking through any account numbers on statements before you fax them over. I have had fraud on my Priority Club and Hilton frequent traveller accounts, and it's a pain to get all of that figured out. Over 90% of the time, there is no problem. But it stinks to work up high balances just to have someone else redeem them in my name.
