How are points calculated?

Hi,

I've just had my first MR miles posted to my BA Executive Club account.

I stayed for 2 nights in London for £85 a night, thus a total of £170.

A total of 737 miles posted to the BA account. This seems quite low.

I'd have expected it to have been around 936 miles caculated as :-

£170 = $312
$312 * 3 = 936

What am I missing here?

Cheers,
Richard Kenyon

I'm not sure about the relationship between Marriott and BA, but if you were earning Marriott Rewards points, they would be earned only on the base rate, excluding taxes. Is something like that going on here?

Hmm, that sounds reasonable.

If I take off 17.5% VAT, then it works out at around 795. So, 737 is still low, but I suppose it could depend on what rate they convert £ -> $.

Thanks
Rick

In my experience the currency conversion rates for MR points are usually close to the rate posted in the hotel, which typicall have nothing to do with really and have about 15-20% spread.

Ongoing problem

I have this problem for nearly all my stays in the UK. At the moment I am down by about 8000 points for my last 3 stays. I usually contact the local MR office and get them to adjust my account.
