Status Match to SPG?

Does anyone know if Marriott will Status Match with Starwoods? I have been a MR Gold for many years and threw my business to Starwood mid year. Have since secured Platinum status with starwood, but would consider coming back in with Marriott if they matched my status. When I emailed them, they replied by saying, "I apologize that the Marriott Rewards program does not currently have an aspect that awards Elite status for stays made at our competitors. Elite status in our program is earned by having the required amount of Marriott nights posted to your Marriott Rewards account."

Sounds crazy for them to not only loose me as a customer in the first place, but not jump at the chance to get my 75-100 nights a year back. What's the real deal here you Marriott Mavens? Is business so good in the hotel industry that they don't want any more business travelers?

I'd call up the elite line and talk to a representative... If you can show revenue spent, I'd assume they would give you some type of opportunity to regain your status at Marriott.

Posted results from those who have asked Marriott to match status vary. Many report being refused. Some report being granted status. There doesn't appear to be rhyme or reason. Perhaps our Marriott Concierge Chris will respond.

IME, the only way to get a status match is to submit spg statements that show the # of nights stayed.

Marriott will not "status match" based up status level alone - probably wise on its part as so many of us have received comped status with Hilton and Starwood, or Hyatt status with priceline nights, etc.

But where do I get my SPG statement to fax?!

Am I missing something? The SPG Platinum Concierge tells me do not send out account statements. The "eStatement"'s I've been receiving only show current point balance. WHAT CAN I SEND MR? SPG keeps telling me that they cannot send an account statement.

Several people have offered the advice to fax your statement (and that's what the MR Rep told me as well). Am I the only one missing something here?

Yes, I should/could have taken a screen shot of my online SPG balance before the end of the year, but that boat has sailed. Any suggestions appreciated.

Go to spg.com and sign in. Then select account activities. It shows stays and points for me.

Do SPG Statements Exist?

Agreed, but it only shows stays & nights since 1/1/2005... I'm trying to get a status match based on my 2004 (176 nights) activity. I guess I can print every page and fax it in, but it seems like there should be an easier way. Thanks for the advice though, mshaikun.

Are the Starwood Plat. Concierges right when they say they haven't sent statements for a long time (if ever)? That seems strange when so many people advocate "faxing a copy of your SPG statement". What gives?

A co-worker who is SPG Plat (100 nights in 2004) asked Marriott to comp status. They wanted her to fax her SPG statements from 2004 showing # of nights and then they would only comp Gold status if she successfully completed the Gold Challenge, 12 nights in 60 days. She said no thanks she'll remain with SPG.

Rip...

I got comped to MR plat based on my record of Priceline stays and my future plans (not bookings)! I also showed them my HH Diamond card.

I then did 147 nights, so they made out OK.
