No, there is no way to get any reasonable value (unless you consider 94% devaluation reasonable) from US miles. See the latest of many threads on the US forum for more discussion. Short answer - use them to fly US/*A.

Cross posting is frowned upon in every online forum I have ever seen.

I can certainly understand that since this is a basic question that OP might be better off trying to find the answer to it before posting (though I find it is easy enough to not even open such posts if I am not willing/able to answer it), but my question is why (theoretically) a question that involves two programs cannot be posted in both forums? Recent example would be the book on United/earn a free stay at Marriott promo - are you suggesting that one of the forums is more appropriate for this post than the other? If so, how would you determine that? (and if so, do a sufficient number of people follow that convention to make it a real convention?).

In my humble opinion, the original poster has been suitably chastised for cross-posting -- although I tend to agree with the point that mere double-posting in Marriott and USAir may well be legitimate. Please let's all return to substantive matters and not spend any more time on FlyerTalk etiquette. Thanks!
