Canary Wharf Marriott
 

I'm scheduled to stay at the Canary Wharf Marriott in September. Anything I should know? Any comments on the hotel?

Spent a night there and was upgraded. It's adjacent to the Docklands light rail system or you can take the water taxi downtown (a few blocks away). Overall the hotel is very nice, very modern. Staff was good, but still working out a few of the kinks.

Is center of London within walking distance (30 min)? In June I was in London and enjoyed walking along the Thames bank walk across from Parliament.

How about restaurants in the area? Safety at night?

The Water taxi is a few blocks away, but Downtown London is 3 miles away. Sometimes the water taxi is the only way to go due to strikes by the rail, etc.

If you look at the photo of the hotel, all the brownstone buildings to the left have restaurants and all the tall buildings on the right are new corporate offices for a variety of companies. Nice area, but there was still some minor construction going on in late June when I was there.
