DTW Recommendations
 

I'd be grateful for FTers' points of view on Marriott brands at or near DTW.

Used to be a Marriott right in one of the terminals; but that terminal is now closed. Full service Marriott, a Courtyard, and a Fairfield on other side of I-94 by airport. These are run of the mill properties. There's a pretty nice full facility Marriott with golf course near I-94 in Ypsilanti, about 15 minutes from the airport, and about 5 minutes from Ann Arbor--Ypsilanti Marriott at Eagle Crest. The premier property at the airport is the new Westin in the new Northwest terminal

I always like the Dearborn Inn, which is also about 15 minutes away. It is the original airport hotel - built in the 1920s across the road from Henry Ford's airport (now the Ford test track). It is definitely not a run-of-the-mill Marriott...classy public areas, nice grounds and landscaping, rooms with high ceilings and big windows.

One upshot about the Airport Marriott (in Romulus) is the manager -- she's the former manager of the now closed Airport location, and is a star in terms of recognizing return guests and resolving issues.
