Marriott Rewards Visa
 

I understand that Marriott Rewards Visa come with a Silver status. But I am already a Silver; will I get comp to Gold in this case? Also, can I choose miles instead points for Visa? If so, will I still earn 1 mile for $1?

The answer to both questions is no.

I was a Silver in about 2001 when Marriott sent me a mailing offering me bonus points and a bump up to Gold if I got the MR Visa. I did it and Marriott has kept me at Gold ever since.

I do not know if this was a one time offer or something you could get by calling with the "right" promotional code. Perhaps search the archives here for more information - again, we're going back in time about 3 years...

UpgradeMe is correct. There are no current offers for any level other than silver elite status and there is only an option to earn point with the VISA card. You can however choose to redeem points for mileage rewards directly to your frequent flyer program of choice.
