Marriott Suites Room Layout?
 

Is there a standard room layout for Marriott Suites? Basically, I'm wondering whether there are actually 2 separate rooms, or one big room separated by a halfwall or something like that (like Springhill Suites). I'm hoping it is arranged so one person can be working/watching TV/etc. while another person can be sleeping peacefully in the bedroom.

Marriott Suites the brand or Marriott suites in general?

I've stayed at the Marriott Suites in Dallas, there are 2 separate rooms, with a double door between them.

Suites in general, I believe it depends upon the age of the hotel. A Jr. Suite at the Rivercenter San Antonio was exactly like the suites encountered at the Dallas location. I've has suites at the Downtown LA, Renaissance DC (Covention Center) and various Courtyards and Fairfields that have varied widely.

Same in Atlanta. The bedroom a little smaller than a typical Embassy Suites, but a nice living room. I think I remember Socrates or another FTer saying that Marriott had discontinued the Marriott Suites concept, although there are still the ones already built???? If so, too bad. I enjoyed the one in Atlanta.

I've stayed at Marriott Suites in Costa Mesa, Bethesda, Columbus North, and San Diego Downtown (the latter two have since been converted to other brands).

They were all true, two-room suites. The living room and bedroom were each fairly compact, but the total square footage was greater than that of a typical Marriott room. In each case, there was a TV in both rooms; the living room had a pull-out sofa; and the bathroom had two doors so it could be entered from either room.

I believe the room layout was about the same at all of them. The Marriott Suites properties were all built within the span of a few years, and then Marriott seemed to stop building new ones. That's too bad. They're great when traveling with kids, and having seperate work and sleep areas is also pleasant when travelling on business.

I know what you mean about "suites" like Amerisuites, where the room has a partial wall between the sofa and the bed. I don't like rooms like that, and calling them suites is false advertising.

Columbus North is just a regular Marriott (though you may have been in one of the whopping 2 suites).

Thanks Horace. The Bethesda property was actually the specific one I was looking at. Looks like I'll be spending some time there on an upcoming project and sounds like the room should work well if the family comes up for a few weeks.

Oh! I know where that is. Didn't realize it used to be Marriott Suites.
