Reserve room (Marriot/SPG) with points/certificates now and cancel post August
What would be the expected result of the following actions
1) Reserve a Marriott room with annual 1-5 free night now and cancel it post August. Do we get 1-5 cert /1-4 cert/equivalent points)?
2) Reserve a SPG room now and cancel it post August. What would be the points refund? Will it be the points of the room post August
2) Reserve a Marriott room with cat-6 travel pkg right now and cancel it post August. What would be the result back and more specifically, would we be able to downgrade it post cancellation?

As for points refund, one of the bloggers has confirmed, Marriott will NOT REFUND your points should you be out of the cancellation period.
Based on Marriott's past IT track record, thread carefully, as this is a merge, it will be a nightmare for them to retro-actively refund points based on the old category redemption.
