Why does Marriott still use its old brandmark?

In spending more time lately on the often broken Marriott website, I couldn't notice the old logo in the upper left hand corner...I know some hotels have the new one up, but many don't. I had assumed it was a newer effort. But apparently the new brandmark was created 5 years ago https://www.underconsideration.com/b...by_grey_ny.php (article from 2014 but actually created summer 2013).

Understand that it takes time to replace it physically out there in the world - but why doesn't the web site of all places have the new one? The old one doesn't exactly scream modern / contemporary nor Millennial appeal (which the campaign sought to accomplish).

Why would they put the Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand logo on the Marriott Corporation's website? These two different entities each have their own logos. The very first sentence of the article you linked points out "Marriott Hotels & Resorts is Marriott International’s flagship brand of full-service hotels and resorts" and this new logo is for that entity. Why not complain that the Design Hotels brand logo isn't in the top corner of the website, or Element, Springhill Suites or Ren?

Marriott International, Inc. logo (the website owner) vs. Marriott Hotels brand logo. If you search the Marriott International website and find a Marriott Hotels property, you will see the Marriott Hotels logo.

http://hotel-development.marriott.co...rriott-hotels/ - Marriott International, JW Marriott, Marriott Executive Apartments, and Marriott Hotels all have different logos.

The "old logo" in the upper left corner of the Marriott.com website, with "Marriott" in the distinctive font, along with the round symbol, is for Marriott (short for Marriott International, Inc.). It's the overall logo for Marriott's 30 brands, and thus the right logo for the website.

The logo with the large M (in the traditional font) and MARRIOTT in uppercase black letters is for the Marriott Hotels brand. It's also the basis for the new Marriott Vacation Club logo.

Take a look at the current logos for Marriott's 30 brands: https://www.marriott.com/marriott-brands.mi

When the combined loyalty program gets a name in 2019, I won't be surprised if it's part of a larger visual identify and branding overhaul.

Mods, can you please correct the title of this thread? The title gives the impression Marriott uses an old logo on its website. Three posters so far have shown this not to be true. Maybe a change to something like "Why are there different Marriott logos?" would be better.

Which broken Marriott website? There are at least two different Marriott websites!

Some pages are on the new website, but some pages are on the old website. The Marriott logo my browser displays for each open tab is slightly different for tabs that have a page from the new website vs tabs that have a page from the old website.

If you want a simple way to get to the old website, log into the new website, then select Overview, then click Nights (which probably only shows lifetime nights, not lifetime points any more), then click "learn more", and you're immediately thrown to the old website where you have to log in again! There are other links on the new Marriott website which take you to the older Marriott website, but the above is the one I use most often and thus remember by heart.

Thanks -- didn't notice that. But what can I do there. Seems like when I click anything it kicks me back to the new site.

And ... where did the badges go :)
