Earning Marriott Elite Nights at SPG Hotels after August 1st
Does anyone know if you can earn Marriott Nights towards your elite status for staying at a SPG property after August 1st?

You can do it anytime during 2018 (don't ask about checking in during 2017 and checking out in 2018, with the stay spanning NYE), not just after August 1st.
However, whether now or after August, the nights won't be combined to possibly give you higher status until after you combine (not just link) your accounts, starting in August.

Or they may be people like me, who won't risk combining accounts until status has been made via 25 stays at SPG properties. After that, I may have a shot at 50 nights in the combined program but as my 2018 nights are going to be split across 3 programs I need to bank the SPG25 first for safety.
