Does anyone know if there is a limit between transfers to family members? So could I have my wife and grown daughter each sign up for the CC and then each transfer me 50K?

Yes, you can do that.

In Roman numerals, wouldn't MM mean 2,000? The year 2018 should be MMXVIII, for example.

That's correct. Don't mistake correct usage of the Roman numeral system for how MM is used in financial accounting and its origins. :D

Does the 50k transfer cap include gifting as well?
- So could my partner buy 50k points and transfer them to me, and also buy a gift of 50k points for me (so a total transfer of 100k points)?

Would I be able to do this with with my partner, mum and sister for a total of 300k points? I've read contradictory responses over a number of forums...

The T&Cs suggest otherwise:
  • A member may purchase or receive as a gift a combined maximum of 50,000 points per calendar year.

Continuing to push to get to 2M (or, 2.0MM) - did a 1-to-1 transfer of 50K United miles on Friday (05/04/18) and they showed up today (05/06/18):

I'm probably not going to try to do a Chase MR Premier Visa card cancel / Premier Plus Visa apply. Plus, their "upgrade offer" was the measly 10K points. Also don't have the Chase UR card so won't be going that route.

Let's see what I can earn as well as charge in the next few months. Also, it allows me to see if any new offers that would allow me to make bank are released.

In the current MegaBonus promo, it should take less than 25 nights to earn 49k through stays (not even counting earning on stays from the credit card), even at inexpensive hotels.

If a 2000 bonus points per stay promo returns, and you can do all one-night stays, it might take about half a many stays=nights to earn 49k through stays.

Or, if you haven't purchased 50k this year yet, that's another option (to use alone or to balance with stays and credit card spend).

I just might make it to LTP before the August change over without having to buy points, not that it's required. The current Megabonus will certainly help.

Congrats in advance, but if this were me, I'd want to see those points (and one more night) actually posted well before August 1st. Sometimes MegaBonus points are slow to post and that would worry me, but then again I was careful to make SPG LTP ahead of the merger, in Fall 2017, just in case there were changes not in my favor.

I am wondering this myself. If my wife transfers 50k from her account to mine, can I still purchase points if needed, with both the transfer and purchase counting toward lifetime?

I am assuming the transfer to UA does NOT reduce the lifetime points balance (like it does when transferring to another MR account). I was thinking about doing MR>>SPG>>UA>>MR, sounds like I can skip the SPG transfer and go MR>>UA>>MR and increase my lifetime total?

Some background:
I've been reading these forums for the past few weeks, but this is my first post. I'm currently a PP, but accepted a promotion at work late last year which reduced my travel from 95% to about 15 weeks per year so my travel wont make up the points defect. I currently have just under 800 lifetime nights but am 175k points short of 2.0m. I have the MR Credit Card (got it about a year ago, so I am not eligible for the bonus). My wife has a Chase Sapphire Preferred card and I am an authorized user, if we have to, I believe I can transfer some of those points to my MR account being an authorized user of the Sapphire card, no? She has about 65k, not a great use of them, but she is on-board with the idea if thats what it comes to. I upgraded my MR card but only for 10k points. So, If my wife were to transfer 50k from her account, can I still purchase points if we decide not to use her Chase UR points (or if Chase doesn't allow the transfer)? Also, If I transfer MR>>UA>>MR will that increase my lifetime total or does it decrease and then increase? I would test this, but as was stated in another thread, the lifetime counter is down.

I have no UA miles now (only use AA and DL), but if I can transfer MR>>UA>>MR (50k max back to MR), transfer 50k from my wife's MR account, that, along with the upgrade points (10k) will leave me about 65k short of lifetime platinum. I can make up most of that with remaining work and personal travel, however, 2 Marriott reps I spoke with this week stated I would only have until 31-July to be grandfathered into LTPP. So If I want to make this by 31-July (and I realize there is conflicting info on this) could I purchase the remainder (perhaps 38k) in late July and have those still count toward lifetime?

(I had already transfered 30,000 UA miles earlier in the year). I have a few paid Marriott nights coming up in May and June.

I am planning on buying a $1000 Marriott gift card using a Marriott credit card in May and will try to convert my current Marriott credit card to the Premier card on May 3rd (for the better earning rates).

can you confirm that your lifetime Marriott points did not drop 48,000 points when you transferred them to United miles?

Did anybody else notice their lifetime points drop to zero? My Marriott iOS app and the website both dropped that info....although they still show the lifetime nights.

Known bug acknowledged by Marriott. It's showing up correctly at this link:
https://www.marriott.com/rewards/rewards-program.mi#

For most people, even when the lifetime status/nights/points doesn't load on the my account page.

Can someone please confirm for me:
If a relative that does not live at the same address transfers MR points to me, will that bump my Lifetime Points count? Or, does it have to be with the same home address?

And is it just a $10 fee? (Is it free if I as the recipient am a MR Platinum or is the fee based on the giver?)

Thanks in advance.

Will increase lifetime points of member receiving and decrease lifetime points from person sending. Unlike SPG, donor doesn't need to live at the same address. I wasn't charged a fee when gifted points by someone who was neither Gold or Platinum.
