no 800 number for Platnium?

Hi,

I called and asked for "platinum desk", I seem to have gotten an unknowledgeable agent on the number on the back of my card and was told that there is only a dedicated desk for the level ABOVE Platinum. Is this accurate?

It is one of the published benefit. The number is on the Platinum benefits page under "Dedicated Platinum Reservation Line": https://www.marriott.com/marriott-re...ts/platinum.mi

Typical CSR response. If they don't know the answer, they make one up. That's less work for them. HUCA may get you someone that knows better or asking for a supervisor may help. Sometimes when the lines are busy, you get routed to the next available agent regardless of their training level. This might work for 75% of the calls but frustrating for the rest. Personally, unless I need action now, I post the issue to chat line or use their webform to make sure the issue is communicated correctly (if only they are able to read it correctly).

What number did you call? The number on the back of your Platinum card - then you asked for the Platinum desk (?) and then wonder if there's a Platinum number?

I'm confused.

What cards are people talking about?

As far as I know there are no more elite cards (unless you have an old one). On the Chase cards, it is the general MR line listed.

It is the same number for everyone, the phone system will ask for your Marriott Rewards Member number. If you are a Platinum member, they will route you to the Platinum Team. But the challenge I had is that it is hard to get the system to route you to the Marriott Rewards Team in general if you follow their instruction and tell them what you want to do, you end up with the Reservation Desk all the time. Until I discovered a few months ago that to say "transfer points to another member" and this will route you to Marriott Rewards Team every single time.
