How well do you know your door number formats?

Ok. Went to a hotel last week where its website didn't say anything about construction (but its FT thread does...go figure).

I'm used to seeing a door number placard format such as:

Instead, I saw the following:

For 10 points each:
  • What brand was the original hotel?
  • What is the new brand of the hotel getting remodeled?

Perhaps this should have gone in the Starwood forum as the original hotel is a Sheraton Hotel.

Yes, the original sure looks like a old Sheraton.

Correct - 10 points a piece. However, the latter question is still in play:
  • What is the new brand of the hotel getting remodeled?
and this is the reason why this posting is in the Marriott Rewards forum...

Yeah, I figured it was now a Marriott brand - not one I recognize, so I'll go with Moxy.

The first one is a Sheraton with "old" colors.

The second one looks like a trendy brand in modern style, not that expensive. It's not quite right, but it should be something like an aloft, maybe element, so Moxy seems like a good guess to me.

Courtyard is sorta correct since the property hasn't flipped - yet (This gives me a chance to scoop SkiAdcock... ) - and award 10 points each per these posts.

Had I posted either of the following door numbers with the relevant color, knowledgeable MR elites would have immediately known:

While the hotel has not yet reflagged, for me the final two clues were the bed's "accent" pillow and the television banner:

Needless to say, this all confused me. I figured it out but then confirmed in the morning that the hotel will flip "relatively soon".

WRT Moxy or AC, I have yet to stay at a Moxy so don't have any door number examples. However, for the one and only AC I've stayed at, here's what my room number photo collection shows:

Bingo! Yes, the Sheraton Dulles Airport is reflagging to be a Courtyard - if you've stayed there recently, something at least, took me by surprise. Also, the remodel gives a good indication of where CY is going with their decor.

Current expectation both by the front desk staff as well as Marriott's website is that it will be a CY by May. Doubtful since they've still a bit of a ways to go. As compared to the Sheraton and its armoires and dark wood, they've spent the effort and built in closets, refinished the bathrooms and moved well away from CY's original orange-based color scheme.

I'll try to post some before (Sheraton) and after (CY-ish) shots.

I guess I didn't offer points for identifying the property - 1st prize?

It's a brand targeted at people who enjoy rebuilding automotive gearboxes.

The room decor reminded me immediately of the CY in Irvine CA. I'm shocked it's already a 3 year old hotel. Still so many CY's that are many designs behind.
