Ultimate Reservation Guarantee

I am a platinum Elite member and wanted to find out if this qualify's for the ultimate reservation guarantee.

I am a pharma rep and I travel throughout NC. Tonight I checked into my Courtyard at 11:45pm. I booked online the 1 king 2 bedroom suite for about $175. Upon arrival I am then told that they do not have any 1 king 2 bedroom suites. They just have 1 king studio's and was placed in there.

I tell the front desk lady that the specific reason I booked the 2 room suite was I was going to be training a new rep and using the Suite living area as our training area since it is private and quite!

Looking at my account I was charged the $175 instead of the $125 that the king studio was as well.

I don't mind being charged the $175 because it gives me more points and my company pays for it but I book online for a 2 room 1 king bed for work purposes and was not able to get it!

Am i wasting my time if I call Marriott to try to get some compensation?

First, did you make the reservation within a day of the stay? Marriott does limit the guarantees if you make last minute reservations.
Second, is your MR# in the reservation? The guarantees require the hotel to know that the reservation is for an elite member.
Third, are you still checked-in to the hotel? While it is not impossible to get a hotel to honor a guarantee, it can be a lot harder and in some cases the guarantee expires if you haven't invoked it before you check out.

So if you meet all the above, I'd suggest contacting MR directly. (Call Customer Service.) Let them know exactly what happened, why you think the Guarantee is applicable and that the hotel isn't honoring the Guarantee. Most likely the hotel gave away your suite room thinking you were a no-show.

Be a bit careful in how you present the Guarantee. The hotel will want to focus on the "room type" guarantee (i.e. you reserved a king bed and got a king bed.) Focus instead on the fact that you had a guaranteed reservation for a suite room and they either oversold it or gave it away to someone else.
