Fall 2017 MegaBonus Terms and Conditions
*A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. [Although the T&Cs don't say it clearly, a stay can be as short as one night.]
• Registration is required.
• Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by November 30, 2017 will earn one (1) free night award at a category 1-5 hotel (value of standard free night award ranges from 7,500 points for Category 1 hotels to 25,000 points for Category 5 hotels) after two paid stays* made between September 12, 2017 and January 15, 2018, at participating Marriott® properties.
• If a member completes two qualifying stays during the promotional period, an additional offer may be unlocked and become available in the members account within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay.
• The member may not receive additional notification except through their online member account and must register for the additional offer within two (2) weeks from the date the additional offer becomes available.
• Maximum one (1) free night award earned with this promotion per member to be redeemed for a future stay at participating Marriott Rewards category 1-5 properties.
• Free night award will expire six (6) months after the date of issuance.
• An earned free night award is good for one (1) single or double occupancy standard room only and includes the cost of the hotel room and applicable room taxes only.
• An earned free night award will be added to the member’s account within 3-5 business days after the second qualifying stay.
• The awarded free night certificate is not transferable and may not be given as a gift.
• Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit and Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for credit.
• Stays at ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments are not eligible for credit toward this promotion.
• Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.
• Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.

it is 6 months from the issue date and it is usually the "day of" of the "day after" the stay that trigger the promo get posted. So, the earlier you got the cert, the earlier your cert will expire. I recall some reports have successfully getting those cert extended, but some also having requests denied as well. So, it seems YMMV on this

What does this mean ? Will more bonus opportunities popup after 2 stays or is the whole promo done for you after 2 stays and one crappy cert ?

My experience is that I had my cert from the Credit Card extended for another year while the agent will not for these promo 6-month certs. So, unless you like the other promos (SPG, Hilton, etc...) I would at least stay twice, get the free night, use that one first within 6 months and extend the Credit Card one if required. This way, you can at least see what add'l offer you will get.

When I try to register for the promotion, I get an error message that says the system couldn't register me.

So for those who have experience with similar promos, for someone who is hotel hopping early on (to take advantage of a "Taste of Gold" promo), do they not get credit for the additional hotel stays while waiting for the next offer to "unlock" after 2 stays, or does registration for the second part of the promo get retroactively applied?

I had a cert from the last free cert promo cheerfully extended 12 months no problem. My experience was consistent with most reports. I think you just got a bad agent.

If I have a stay from 9/10-9/14, would that count towards my first stay on this promotion? Or would I have to check out and check back in on 9/12?

Thanks, did not know that, thought it would be the 6 months or whatever added onto the expiration, so I'll certainly wait until next April - that way, if they say no, I can still use that one in May.
