Fall 2017 MegaBonus Terms and Conditions

*A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. [Although the T&Cs don't say it clearly, a stay can be as short as one night.]

• Registration is required.
• Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by November 30, 2017 will earn one (1) free night award at a category 1-5 hotel (value of standard free night award ranges from 7,500 points for Category 1 hotels to 25,000 points for Category 5 hotels) after two paid stays* made between September 12, 2017 and January 15, 2018, at participating Marriott® properties.
• If a member completes two qualifying stays during the promotional period, an additional offer may be unlocked and become available in the members account within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay.
• The member may not receive additional notification except through their online member account and must register for the additional offer within two (2) weeks from the date the additional offer becomes available.
• Maximum one (1) free night award earned with this promotion per member to be redeemed for a future stay at participating Marriott Rewards category 1-5 properties.
• Free night award will expire six (6) months after the date of issuance.
• An earned free night award is good for one (1) single or double occupancy standard room only and includes the cost of the hotel room and applicable room taxes only.
• An earned free night award will be added to the member’s account within 3-5 business days after the second qualifying stay.
• The awarded free night certificate is not transferable and may not be given as a gift.
• Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit and Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for credit.
• Stays at ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments are not eligible for credit toward this promotion.
• Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.
• Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.
• For a list of current Marriott Rewards participating brands, visit https://www.marriott.com/marriott-re...earn/hotels.mi.
• Stays at our exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton®, will count toward achievement.
• Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this promotion.
• All Marriott Rewards program terms and conditions apply.
• See https://www.marriott.com/rewards/terms/earning.mi for more information.
• Visit MarriottRewards.com/FreeNightMegaBonus for complete details.

How disappointing! I hit the first MegaBonus challenge 2 weeks ago, I've been waiting, checking every day quite excited to see what would be unlocked and then this! Earn 10,000 bonus points after 5 more stays and 1000 per stay after that....

How can they go from effectively giving 25,000 points for 2 stays (the cat 1-5 free night voucher) to 10,000 points for 5 stays. Where is the logic? Seems they must want us all to move our stays to Starwood?

Hardly enough to entice people to change their travel plans. BTW, I didn't receive an e-mail informing me the next offer was available.
Same for me. Not exactly compelling as an offer. I should make the 5 stays plus a few.

My thoughts exactly

Just changed my 4 night stay at the Boscolo Budapest next week to:

Boscolo > Courtyard > Boscolo > Courtyard to generate "4 stays"

Smart move Marriott, the Courtyard is $80/night cheaper...

Quite the letdown. I assumed it would be equivalent to the SPG promo at least.

I have not done much at SPG this year, but they've given me 2x elite qualifying credit for stays/nights and the 500/1000 bonus. So I'll give up on Marriott and renew my status through SPG instead.

For those wondering whether activity will count between earning the first part of the promotion and registering for the second, it appears that it will. I had 6 stays from hotel hopping last week. I was hoping the 4 extra stays would count, and in the new Megabonus status bar, it now shows that I only need 1 more stay to earn the second part of the bonus.

Same here. My status bar shows the stays that have already been completed.

No for me, I'm "missing" two stays 17th & 19th

(Certificate was marked as "ordered" on the 17th)

I'll leave it till the end of next week then claim my 10K points..

Finished my second stay this week. I guess I'll be doing the 5 stays, I'm going to need 4 more stays to requalify as Platinum anyway. But after 5, definitely switching to SPG.

That's a different promo! The brand bonus was in the summer promo, and you're in the fall promo thread.

The answer to your question is in the correct thread, starting at this post:

it is for any cat 1-5 hotel across the world. The promo is not US based, hence the term "International" doesn't really apply here.
