Fall 2017 MegaBonus Terms and Conditions

*A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. [Although the T&Cs don't say it clearly, a stay can be as short as one night.]

• Registration is required.
• Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by November 30, 2017 will earn one (1) free night award at a category 1-5 hotel (value of standard free night award ranges from 7,500 points for Category 1 hotels to 25,000 points for Category 5 hotels) after two paid stays* made between September 12, 2017 and January 15, 2018, at participating Marriott® properties.
• If a member completes two qualifying stays during the promotional period, an additional offer may be unlocked and become available in the members account within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay.
• The member may not receive additional notification except through their online member account and must register for the additional offer within two (2) weeks from the date the additional offer becomes available.
• Maximum one (1) free night award earned with this promotion per member to be redeemed for a future stay at participating Marriott Rewards category 1-5 properties.
• Free night award will expire six (6) months after the date of issuance.
• An earned free night award is good for one (1) single or double occupancy standard room only and includes the cost of the hotel room and applicable room taxes only.
• An earned free night award will be added to the member’s account within 3-5 business days after the second qualifying stay.
• The awarded free night certificate is not transferable and may not be given as a gift.
• Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit and Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for credit.
• Stays at ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments are not eligible for credit toward this promotion.
• Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.
• Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.
• For a list of current Marriott Rewards participating brands, visit https://www.marriott.com/marriott-re...earn/hotels.mi.
• Stays at our exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton®, will count toward achievement.
• Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this promotion.
• All Marriott Rewards program terms and conditions apply.
• See https://www.marriott.com/rewards/terms/earning.mi for more information.
• Visit MarriottRewards.com/FreeNightMegaBonus for complete details.

Exactly my thoughts....

Anyone have the second round unlocked yet?

I have two stays from last week that haven't posted yet, and one from Monday. I figure, if you need to unlock step 1 before earning towards step 2, there's not much incentive for MR to post stay activity to your account. Booked the next 2 weeks at SPG properties until there's more information on this promo...

I have an update, and it is not a good one. I completed my 2nd stay last Wednesday. It posted on Sunday. Still nothing as of now, so I called MR (again). They rep did apologize, but told me to expect an email a day or two after we completed the first part. The email would explain that we had to register within a couple of weeks or the promo would not apply. I told her I already completed it but had received nothing. I also told her I had 9 nights reserved the following two weeks, and those would be switched to Holiday Inn if I didn't receive anything soon. I politely told her I knew this wasn't her fault, but she needed to report to management how poorly this is being handled. I mentioned this site and that a lot of people were complaining about the same thing.

Is Marriott Concierge on here anymore? Surely he/she knows something.

Even if an official Marriott representative (here or elsewhere) was allowed to say, all they could possibly say publicly is what all the possible options are (I seem to remember hearing someone say there would be about 4 targeted options?). If it was a widely mixed set of options (some stay based, some night based, etc), would it really help you to know what all the options are, or only what your particular option is (especially if you're not allowed to change to another option)?

Of course, the same question would apply if we found a mixed set of options purely from early datapoints posted here.

I'm also waiting for my unlocked new offer after my first two stays -- particularly since I have two more stays this week.

That being said, having read through the rules, I strongly suspect that any nights/stays this week will count toward the next bonus. Of course, if the intent of the bonus structure is to drive customer behavior, ... this isn't working! On the other hand, if its also to reward committed customers, I suppose I'll get rewarded.

Marriott could say that any activity generated after the first 2 stays would count toward the 2nd part of the promotion regardless of when a customer registers for that part. What's the downside to doing that? In fact, doing so would increase its business because right now some people are going elsewhere while Marriott is dragging its feet.

You should just reach out. I drop them a note via online feedback and the promo was manually added.

Worth noting that the T&Cs imply that you will NOT receive an email :

• If a member completes two qualifying stays during the promotional period, an additional offer may be unlocked and become available in the members account within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay.
• The member may not receive additional notification except through their online member account and must register for the additional offer within two (2) weeks from the date the additional offer becomes available.
... so unlocking is reliant on the member logging on to their online account, noticing the notification and responding within 2 weeks.

The loose wording says "....within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay" and not "....within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay posts to your account", so it looks like MR is already in breach of its own T&Cs.

not really a breach since you "may" get a second promo.

And even if it is a breach, the penalty for breach is nothing.
