This post probably isn't a joke, but @broadwayboy, somewhere on this board there is a back-and-forth that went on way to long involving way too many people about the distance between the LM and this new hotel. While someone thought he could walk the 1km distance in a minute, the consensus was it would take most humans longer, say 10-15 minutes. It is not near the BTS nor MRT.

Walking out of the LM, you would turn left on Surawong, towards Lumpini Park and according to Google Maps the Take-a-Nap hotel (!), to get to the JT store, which IIRC is the first thing you see when a cab turns off of Rama IV Rd. You would turn right on Surawong when you leave the LM and walk 1km to get to the new hotel. They are in opposite directions.

I will stay in this hotel on March, does anybody know the email of the GM or front desk manager of this hotel? I am staying there with my wife to celebrate our 25 years anniversary so would like to e-mail them in advance. Thank you.

I know the GM is George Varughese and Director of Rooms is Krongkarn Siriporn. But I don't know what is the format of their e-mail? is it something like [email protected] or [email protected]?
Would be nice if we can email them in advance about our stay for possible room upgrade, since I am SPG Plat.

Being SPG Plat is meaningless at a Marriott unless you've matched over to Marriott.

Frankly, if you're celebrating why did you pick this property ? Location wise, There are SO MANY other better ones in Bangkok

You've got the standard Marriott email format right but since this prop won’t even open until next month they might not even be monitoring their incoming msgs

Hope you're satisfied with your choice. Yes, a new prop but as stated location wise really isolated from tourist sites, shopping, restaurants

Although there will be a few non-residents who will argue over this props location I’ve been in TH for 47 years (was involved in that small “police action” just east of here!) and have lived here for the last 23 years with my law office being on Surawongse and this prop is near nothing - not tourist wise, SkyTrain/MRT or restaurant wise. To one poster because it’s located near the residence of the hotel Owner that’s going to make this property special, IMO, ridiculous, but even the incoming GM stated in a recent interview that this area needs a rejuvenation which verifies my position that due to my comments and the traffic problems on Surawongse that for now you're better off choosing another better located property.

That's sounds incorrect. I have done research and this new Surawong hotel located in Silom area:

What's Good:
- Great restaurants
- Patpong (the iconic night market and red light district of Bangkok)
- Downtown location
- Easy BTS, MRT and taxi access for convenient travel . Stations: Sam Yan, Silom, Sala Daeng

What’s Not So Good:
- Lacking in culture
- Sidewalks are congested at night (but it's ok for me as I want lively areas)
- Traffic past 17:00 can be congested (it's ok too because I am not gonna be driving anyway)

Where are you getting your information? While I may not be quite so negative on staying in this area as Srisarin, I dont know that we have enough information on a yet to be opened hotel to say it has great restaurants and the location info is not how I would describe it......

Srisarin is correct. You will need to commute out of the area and the traffic is horrendous in this locale. The search that joykid is picking up will encompass the likes of Silom and probably Asiaatique [sic] which although close can take an eternity to get to.

While I agree that this new Marriott is not in an area in which I'd want to stay, I look forward to hearing the poster's impressions after he and his wife spend a week there. Let's not discourage him from doing so or one of us might have to stay there to get the info.

@Srisarinthank you for the input. Can you please provide a recommend place, either Marriott of Starwood? I'm going for five nights with my wife and have quite a few points to burn.

Having a pool that gets sun is important and a good breakfast is always nice too.

As a resident I know neighborhoods quite well but except for occasional one nighters like NYE I rarely have any desire nor need for hotel stays in Bangkok so I’ll defer to others who are frequent guests at various Marriott/Starwood props.

I should note that I know a few props here, but not by name but as hereinafter Defendant so I have a taiinted viewpoint towards a few that others might rave about !!!
