Looking for a category 8 Marriott Hotel in Hawaii
Hi guys,
I'm planning a trip to Hawaii (my first time) and have the category 1-5 hotel+air package from marriott.
I'm planning to transfer some SPG points and upgrade to a category 8 (or higher if you guys really recommend it). I'm planning to go with my wife and 1 year old daughter, but I've never been to Hawaii and have no clue which part or island would be best for us.
Recommendations would be very appreciated.
Thanks!

Do you have any idea what you are interested in doing? Do you want a city property or something more remote/resort-like? Any additional input would be helpful.
Also have you looked at any of the numerous threads on Hawaii properties. Lots of good information already there that might point you towards a couple options that the board could then help you refine.
Finally, have you considered the reverse? Transferring your Marriott points to SPG.

Also, it depends on where you are flying from. There are lots of non-stop flights to Honolulu but fewer to the other islands. Sometimes the other islands have higher airfares.

Hawaii is my home. I am constantly asked by mainland people where they should stay. My immediate answer is that I have no idea. I need to know what you want to do. Our state has it all. You want city life with food and wine experience? I know where to stay. You want rural life with horseback rides? I know where to stay. You want to explore America's unknown history? I know where to stay. You want to bring your guns over and hunt hogs or deer? I know where to stay. You want to let your kids run wild in a safe environment while you and your wife sip drinks on the lanai? I know where to stay. Tell me what you would like to do, I can recommend where to stay.

+1 for Kauai Marriott. We've been to all the islands and Kauai is our favorite - we.go back every year. The Marriott is in a great location with a beautiful beach.
