The "Murphy + sofabed" setup would be highly unusual. Zero real beds in the room? I suppose it's possible...it'd probably be the anteroom of a larger suite that maybe they sell individually as a day room. Just seems unlikely.
I think the OP will get a King and a Murphy, it'll be a decent room, and he'll get $100 as well. If the hotel really does have generally good customer service (aside for the curt emails), then this will hopefully happen without a fuss. |

But, according to Marriott.com, the room at Chicago Marriott Suites O'Hare is the same size as a regular suite at the all-suite property. As I wrote earlier in this thread: According to Marriott.com, the configuration of a Family Suite at Chicago Marriott Suites O'Hare is a suite with "1 King or 1 Double Murphy, Sofa bed." The square footage (575 sq ft) is the same as other suites at this all-1-bedroom-suite hotel Perhaps the website is wrong.Perhaps the website is correct, and the room is also designed to serve as a hospitality suite when it's needed for that purpose -- with the ability to get the bed in the master bedroom out of the way. I still think it's reasonable for a Platinum guest to expect a suite with two real double beds, if that's what he reserved. That's why a Guaranteed Room Type (with a penalty) is a published Platinum benefit. |

I don't believe you'll have any problem collecting the guarantee from this property.
They missed my PAG on my most recent stay here and I was given zero runaround the next day when I pointed this out and requested the $100 compensation. |
got the $100 and the room wasnt that bad
The hotel gave me the $100 at checkin without prompting by me. The FDC said that "I see you reserved 2 double beds, but we had to put you in a 1 king + murphy, we owe you $100." The room was actually quite nice, the furniture, TVs, and bathroom were all up to current Marriott design standards. And my brother said that, while the murphy wasn't too comfortable, it was comfortable enough to be worth the $100 compensation. There was 1 king, a king size murphy, AND a sofa bed.
Also, the hotel was crawling with high school volleyball teams; I saw at least 30 teenagers in various sized groups, so that's most likely why I had to get bumped out of the double. Good call by whoever thought of that. For the record Sharon, the breakfast option offered to me was continental only in the hotel bar across from the FD. I didnt take it since I decided to eat in the ORD AA Flagship Lounge instead. Thanks to everyone for your considered responses and help; it's why I love being a part of FT. |

. Glad the hotel gave you your compensation without any grief - so did you give the Benjamin to your brother for his "inconvenience"? :D |
