Marriott Canada - no points for Delta Hotels?

Hi all - just as a combo FYI/question.....as you know Marriott has bought out Delta brand hotels. I am have a conference to go to in Montreal in late Jan, and it's at a Delta hotel, so I figured "win, win". However, I just went to book it, and while they confirmed that it is now a Marriott brand hotel, they stated it is NOT yet part of Marriott Rewards.

The rep on the phone said that meant no MR points (which is a shame given the Mega Bonuses) and seemed very unsure as to whether I would get any platinum benefits while there (free wifi/breakfast).

Can anyone confirm this? It hardly seems fair. Any idea when they become part of Marriott Rewards?

same complaint made by another OP who was going to stay at Delta Canada but found out after posting here that Delta is not yet an MR member.

If interested, find it via search.

You should get status benefits, but Delta's full participation in MR won't be until sometime in February 2016.

"June 18, 2015 – February 2016. Marriott Rewards will complete necessary system upgrades with Delta Hotels and Resorts.

Throughout this period, members of Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® will receive recognition benefits during their stays. Members will not earn points, miles or Elite night credits for stays. Members will not be able to redeem points toward free stays at Delta Hotels and Resorts.

Members of Aeroplan® will receive 500 miles for qualifying stays at participating Delta Hotels and Resorts until February 2016. Existing Delta Privilege members with earned hotel credit and upgrades have until Feb. 29, 2016 to use them.

February 2016. Delta Hotels and Resorts will fully participate in Marriott Rewards. Members of Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards will receive Elite benefits and earn points or miles and Elite night credits. Members will also be able to redeem points for free night stays."

So you will receive elite recognition (upgrade, free wifi, access to exec lounge if there is one, free brekkie) for the stay in late Jan, just not points or night credit.

Cheers.
