Does anyone know how to turn the night light on on the clock?

I'm in a Fairfield. There is a Timex clock next to the bed. The clock face is dark, but there must be a way to turn the night light feature on so the numbers are displayed. The snooze button also says (clock dimmer). Unfortunately there does not seem to be a clock brightener. Any ideas?

Sure. Easiest and no guess method - pick up the phone and ask the front desk.
Would take a lot less time then posting here and asking for guesses.

Did you consider that the clock display could be broken?

If it's the Timex I'm thinking of, try hitting the snooze button while the radio is off. It may cycle the light on the display through off, low, medium and high (maybe no medium setting).

That's how my clock radio at home works and it's very similar to the ones in the hotels.

Ask. Fix. Post.

Possibly, but you're putting a lot of confidence in the FDC. Instead, it could turn into a Maintenance call where the OP has to get dressed, welcome a worker into the room, only to have him poke and prod at the clock in trial and error fashion similar to what the OP has already done. After 30 minutes of futzing around, still no nightlight.

No harm in coming here to ask others who deal with this type of stuff on a regular basis.

Still no response from the OP as to why he/she tried, or not, getting a response from the FD but as to your assumption that it might be a maintenance issue even better to have FTers post corrective maintenance suggestions for an unknown Timex model then to have the hotel fix it or better, replace it.

I'm not quite sure what you said as I think you left out a few words and some punctuation, but did you have a better suggestion?

seemed very reasonable.

Ha! Plug it in. The clock has a battery back up so still keeps time when unplugged, but the light does not work. You learn something new every day.

I'm still waiting for someone to post that he demands a refund and he will never stay at a Marriott property again because the night light wasn't on.

And did you learn this "unique" trick from one of the Timex maintenance experts here on FT ??

No, self discovery. When I came back from court yesterday I went to plug in my laptop and noticed there was only one plug in the receptacle next to the bed (when both the light and the clock were on the night stand). I pulled out the night stand, saw the clock unplugged, plugged it in and voila, night light!

You guys are too funny; demanding compensation for no light. Should I ask for something because they upgraded me to a spa suite instead of the studio suite which I prefer when I'm in trial?

This happens to me all the time. I rent a room then I have to go figure out what's wrong with the room (annoying little stuff) like unplugged items (including the clock), burnt out light bulbs, HVAC malfunctions, etc. A pet peeve. Shouldn't this stuff be checked before check-in?

So now dwcatty is uniquely qualified to be FT's own Timex maintenance expert. A great resource for other FTers who may have a similar issue in the future. See how that worked out? ;)
